Lana del Rey deserves to be praised. In my opinion, she could handle the heavy burden of carrying our stories as millennials, this broken generation that went through a lot in a world that just won't stop giving us a break. There's no one but Lana who trailblazed a path for younger artists to be brave and presents stories that don't necessarily fit in the box of "standard love". You'll find stories of death, depression, love, atypical relationships, abuse and etc. within the folds of Lana's lyrical contents. Had it not been inspired by what she does, I would have never been able to put out an award winning film out there, inspired by her song "California", talking about how she navigating through Barrie's depression. Lana fans, let me know what you think about it!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pISmZaOqipxsY5o

Daniel Rivera she is a mainstream singer...
@maxcoberturas48049 жыл бұрын
Elvis Mejia If Lana Del Rey to you is mainstream, you just don't know what mainstream means. To this day Lana is pretty much the only artist doing this genre of music, you know, Hollywood Sadcore, she's an artist who doesn't follow any current standard, she's going in a different way. Her sound is far from being curated by a horde of producers to make it easy and catchy to the public. There's a depth in her work that you don't find in any other modern artist. Also, Lana Del Rey doesn't have any air time, you don't hear her songs on a constant loop on the radio, she doesn't overpromote her albums like a lot of nowadays' "artists" do, you hardly hear anything about her except when some people is trying to tear her down. So Lana Del Rey is far from being mainstream, much less overrated, overhyped and overexposed. Get it right.

Re: Lorde and Lana. I think Lorde, being young, has young ideals of what should and what should not be in society. Lana on the other hand is about getting in touch with ur base emotions, base instincts (desire, materialism, thrill seeking, vices). To me, Lorde's lyrics are like essays or op-eds. Lana's are like poems or sincere diary writings.
@kakashihatake405110 жыл бұрын
WHO IS LORDE?
@mavricksone10 жыл бұрын
There's no possible comparison between Lana Del Rey and Lorde. It's not about the fact that they are two very different artists, it's just that Lana Del Rey is way more talented than Lorde. Lana's vocal skills are more impressive. She's better live even though she's not the best live singer, at least she sounds good, Lorde tries too hard and she's not even able to hit the notes in each of her songs, she sounds off pitched all the time. Lana's music is not repetitive, whereas Lorde's "Pure Heroine" is one long song, with the same annoying techno beat throughout the whole fucking album. Plus Lana doesn't have to be a bitch to anyone to be talked about, i don't even care about any of the artists that Lorde has dissed (the only one that she dissed and made me pissed is Lana) it's just the fact that it's very childish for someone who claims to be so mature. So yes, it might sound simplistic but Lana Del Rey IS *better* than Lorde. #sorrynotsorry

Hands down one of my favorite deep cuts on this album. When it slows down, the intoxicating and euphoric-like feel you get from the music is the perfect example of how music can portray a feeling without even saying a word. On top of that Lana's beautiful and haunting voice dancing around in that minor key to that melody is just... Perfection. "Down on the West Coast they got a sayin' "If you're not drinkin' then you're not playin'" But you've got the music, you've got the music In you, don't you?"

@jacobscanlon20069 жыл бұрын
+chocolatechristie what it is in this version the chorus has a less full sound, were all thats heard is the bass the guitar the drums and lanas vocals. in the ultraviolence version they include a synth playing a B minor melody in the chorus, it sounds alot like a rock organ. if you have an instrument play these notes: B,A,E,C#, these are the notes you can hear in the background of ultraviolences version of west coast. i had to tell you cause im to much a superfan.

My personal favorite is Keane, but I also listen to Travis, The Stereophonics, there's also this new band called Bastille they're good too. In the U.S. we also have Foster the People, OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, most of the best artists out there they make "alternative" music, you just have to find them....

i remember when this was first released, i misheard the "my love" as "la la" in "como yo my love" and thought that sounded so beautiful even though it was apparently lacking any meaning. i've always considered lana's music to be, at least sometimes, focused more on beauty than unnecessarily deep meanings (despite her profound poetic ability). until realizing what she actually said in that line, i had thought it fit with her theme to add something meaninglessly beautiful just for the sound of it. and i really loved that part because of it

this version of the video is super cool because it is so symbolic of purgatory. the same life day in day out. the entire ultraviolence album is actually about Lana's metaphysical and philosophical journey thru the afterlife. another reason she is so highly underrated. shes so intellegent and complex as a person and as an artist.
