The instrumentation is the main reason Im so addicted to this song. Something about that opening riff. Then at around 1:14, the instrumentation changes to what I immediately picked up as either a sample or an interpolation of “And I Love Her” by the Beatles. Then goes back to its original instrumentation. I really like that a lot.

It's absolutely criminal how this woman hasn't been awarded a Grammy yet. It really highlights how the recording academy doesn't actually award based on artistic excellence, they only award based on a musician's marketability and popularity that year. You'll only win if you've reached a certain level of radio success and generated a lot of money for the industry. The fact that Cardi B won a Grammy before Lana Del Rey is all the proof you need.

The first time I heard Lana was at 10, someday in 2012 my mother turned on the radio and Blue Jeans was playing, I didn't understand a lot about of music, but I love what I was hearing, so I immediately turn on my computer to search "Lana del Rey" and find Born to Die. I turned 18 this year and she's still my queen too, probably until the day I die, there's no other artist that makes me feel like Lana does.

I've always had intense respect for Lana Del Rey - I listened to her throughout high school, college, and graduate school for both entertainment and inspiration. She is able to make music accessible at a pop culture level while incorporating aspects of high culture and historical references. I still remember traveling to Italy to meet a family friend and listening to "Blue Jeans".
