Confession: I used to compare myself to you alot to the point I became jealous of you. I noticed that I always compare myself to people who have similar personality to me. And usually I would envy everyone, it almost felt like they stole something from me, like if it wasn't for their existence I would have got that position. Jealousy makes us feel like those people we envy took our achievement : I should be the one in that position... Ect. Usually I'm good not comparing myself to others but I cannot help it but fall to the mistake of comparing myself to people who have my type of personality and face? (weird I know hhh). But I forced my self to watch you and instead of hating you, I learned to learn from you. I started Journaling because of your video and by writing more and more, I was no longer in denial with my negative emotions. Admetting i'm jealous was hard but few days later when I got the notification of a new upload: I was no longer holding bad thoughts nor comparing myself t you. It's like with my confession, all the emotions blew away. Thank you Lana for being you and perfectly perfect from your imperfections

People will try to put you down regardless of what you look like! Some people will just scan you in the hopes of finding something that they can make you feel bad about. I hope you'll start accepting your ears too, fellow elf :-)

I just love that you used Harry Potter characters for the levels! I can relate to the physical comparison. I used to despise my nose because I got made fun of for it back in school. Now I adore my nose, I love the difference in my nose and how it makes me look unique, I actually love showing it off now from a side point too. I'm still struggling with mental comparison especially on certain social media platforms like Facebook & Twitter. I really do need to just step away from that and focus on working on myself with what I actually am already happy with. Comparison truly is the thief of joy, thank you for the insightful video!

I believe somewhere it's somehow related to our childhood... When we are kids we believe our parents and our relatives to be loving, we seek attention as a child.. when we are compared with any other kid.. them being given more importance.. it hurts us.. it goes deep inside our mind and.. we start believing them.. and that is where the game starts.. well i believe it's completely reversible.. ❤️❤️❤️

I have this problem. Every single time i see a person that it's better than me in something, i am level dobby. I just close in myself, think about it and i can't understand their success. I just think that i will never be like them all the time, that happiness is far from me and that i will never reach it. Now i know that all people have different abilities and that i cannot have the same of everybody else and the most is that this world is so scary that certain days i don't want to wake up :D self esteem is my problem i know and you're so courageous to tell to everyone this :) trust me, too many people have low self esteem, i am not the only one.

comparing comes from the fear of not being good enough. anyone who tries to compare you with someone is just highlighting this. social media have made this even more evident in peoples mind, regardless, focus on your self improvement without looking at others

The strange thing is why the effect of all the negative talks lasts forever while the effect of positive ones lasts for just a few seconds! I still remember all the negative words my siblings used to tell me when I was a kid & it hurt a lot, & unknowingly it all made my personality as someone with low self-esteem & self-confidence! Now as an adult, I strive to be better & feel good about myself, but those negative thoughts still haunt me from time to time!
@missrelaxed38724 жыл бұрын
Those negative thoughts still haunt me too, I was abused by a narcissist friend for 13 years , bullied by her in school too! I can totally understand how you feel! But in order to progress in life we have to get rid of the negative thoughts and make room for positivity!

So you are in the right track and you are awesome!!!

I think that most of us struggle with comparing ourselves with people online nowadays. Social media can really be a great place to be. You just need to make sure that you are creating a healthy environment for yourself on there. If you keep your room tidy, why wouldn't you do the same with your social accounts? Both your time and your mental health are at risk if you are not mindful about what you get to interact with on there. I've been in the "comparing myself to others" loop hole before and it's not a nice place to be. Trust me.

Hi Lana! After two years of not having any social media, I downloaded it again today so that I can keep in touch with the people I know even after I graduate from school. Already on my first day of having it, I feel insecure once again. I grew so much in these past couple of years and gained a lot of confidence. I just got back on it today and I’m already comparing myself with others. What can I do to not feel like this? I sometimes even feel jealous of people and idk what to do about it. I need your help Lana!

I don't know how you are doing these days or if you deleted the social media apps again, but i have the same problem with Facebook. Seing my friends getting married, travelling places and throwing money on luxiries is not an easy thing to scope. However, just remember that their wellbeing is nothing to do with your life, your financial status or your wellbeing. The only direction you should focus on is your path ahead. Their achievements are the result of their hardworks. You want to be like them? Work harder !
