Alot of people spent way to much money on it, its sorta like building a race car in your back yard. Its about winning. Prestige, proving your as capable as that other guy. Its not REALLY just about the dogs. Thats why there are so many of them. A real working musher wouldn't need or want that many dogs around. Its just because of racing culture. Gotta find the best dogs This dude was a drug addicted ex fisherman until he started running the iditarod. Now hes a semi famous drug addicted ex fisherman. Not saying hes a bad guy or anything. But dog sled racing should be illegal and he ain't no angel.
