when i was 13yrs young, i joiedn the school band bcoz i wanted to learn to play flute...but ....they freaking force a clarinet on me and told me that boys dont play flute.....now i am near my 50s....i saw your videos and bought a cheap flute to fulfill my lost dream of learning to play a flute....

@@LanceSuzuki Dear Lance, thank you for your encouragements and great videos.I am trying my best on the new arrived beginner flute this few days, but i have queries, for certain fingering i dont know am i getting the right tone as sometimes the tone is low sounding and sometimes it sounds 1 octave higher on the same fingering. example is the fingering for f#...i am confused...
@LanceSuzuki3 жыл бұрын
That’s totally normal. Many notes (E through C#) have the same fingerings in first and second octaves. Part of learning the flute is figuring out how to get the correct octave to speak.

hi when playing the low note it seems like it takes up more air and it will sound airy. Any tips or recommendations please?
@LanceSuzuki Жыл бұрын
It definitely takes more air to get the low notes to resonate. At this stage, don't worry too much about airy sound. Focus instead on resonance and make sure the tube of your flute is vibrating.

@@samwilson5544 probably due to a tight or smiley embouchure. at first i thought my flute may even be broken but after loosening up and fixing my flutes position they started coming out much easier
