It really can't be put better than this. I reside in Switzerland, you can acquire the Swiss Pass and be Swiss, but the unaligneable right of indigenous Swiss nationals can't be taken away. There is always a border line and the UN charter makes that clear. Amazing piece, balanced and inciteful.🎉🎉🎉🎉

Those of us who are proponents of Yoruba autonomy are telling you Lagosians to “shine” your eyes NOW! If non indigenous people are bold enough to claim “Lagos is no man’s land”, then Lagos indigenes need to be vigilant. Once the identity is lost, you can never regain it and you will pay severely for your lack of foresight. Join the race for Yoruba autonomy NOW!!!

The best righteous means are to ensure there is limit the non indigenous tribes people can amaze or entitle to leadership positions especially the govt positions. And all citizens must respect and protect the culture and heritage of the indigenous people.

Yorubas and particularly Lagosians have been too docile on this issue. Our situation has a country is not much different from the UK or Canada. Different peoples in different lands brought together to form a country. In the UK, the English know their limits in Wales, Scotland and Irish and they respect the culture and history of the indigenes. Even with this position the scots in particular have sought to leave the union from time to time using the UN declaration on the rights of Indigenous people to their lands and all the other right that declaration provides. Canada is equally a guide. Quebecers say, yes we are one country but you do not dictate to us how to run our province. They even control immigration to their Lands.

The key here is assimilation. Learn the language, embrace the culture! It's not rocket science.

Assimilate into where? which culture? Have the Yorubas assimilated in London?
@yogunyemiКүн бұрын
@TochukwuOkafor Yes, those who have achieved mainstream success in the UK, Europe and N America have had to assimilate into the host culture. All the current anti-immigration pushback in Europe is traceable to immigrant communities rejecting the host culture. Why did France go to the extreme of banning hijab for girls in school if not in a bid to enforce some kind of 'French culture'?

@yogunyemi don't waste your precious time to reply him. If kemi called England a no man's land and rubbish english values and norms I guess she will be a leader of conservative party in England today? majority of their unguarded utterances towards their host community and their traditions, it's the reasons why the yorubas are pushing back that resulted to conflict between the host community and settlers

Stop calling your hosts all sorts of names and telling them you've bought all their lands and they amount to nothing,stop the empty bragging,stop saying Lagos is a no man's land,stop denígrating other people's homestead,it's a call to anarchy,nobody wants problematic visitors.

No one is a migrant in his or her country. Lagos benefitted massively from being a Federal capital city and the culture is a reflection of the entire country

It is a very poorly thought out argument to say ethnic profiling has been on the increase since APC lol. Nigeria is a conglomerate of different ethnicities, of people very bound to their land, cultures and traditions.
