For the record. However, it's also pertinent to observe that, back when he was still in power, his administration, through his then spokesman Dr. Doyin Okupe, not only gave us the understanding but insisted that Nigeria could not have functional rail system. Since then, we've had a number of functional modern rail systems both at the national and subnational levels. We'll wait out his new assertion and see how it will pan out eventually, whether he will be proven right this time or as was the case with rail, his assertion will be found to be false.

@sixninety0 You're so uncouth! Actually, it's your father at home who's talking rubbish, not us. Moving on, my objection is that Obasanjo shouldn't have waited until the end of his tenure to hand over the refineries to Dangote in a $750 million partnership deal. He had ample time to address this issue earlier, which might explain why Yar'Adua was suspicious. Lastly, Obasanjo's decision to trust Shell was misguided, given the historical lack of support from Western nations for Africa's progress. He could have explored partnerships with countries like China or Russia instead.

Aside that A lot of Nigerians in public offices are corrupt. E g in local government, airport, custom, military, navy. We have many Billionaires who can't take risks of manufacturing in Nigeria, but go through the easy route of importing from China. The profit margin of importation from China is huge. Privatization is a great way to move the country forward. The Government has no business in business. They only need to regulate and collect their easy sweet taxes.

@olukayodeolusegun3242 The way OBJ and Atiku sold our national assets can't be explained by anyone. They basically sold them at giveaway prices to selected people. This is why some people would say they must have made ungodly fortune from those transactions. The worst of it all was that many of those assets did not work even after we had lost billions to unfair sales.

I know it's still difficult for anyone to believe that as quiet and humble as we may think Jonathan Goodluck is, he is actually the one who returned the troubles Nigeria is currently facing. He was told that Boko Haram is a threat waiting to cause us destruction, he failed to listen to OBJ saying that he would employ dialogue. He returned the management of the refineries to NNPC because he soon learned that it's through that way he can become so rich. All crude sales to India for 6 years during his tenure, were never remitted. He had an agreement signed with Siemens, a German company when their chancellor, Angela Dorothea Merkel visited Nigeria and was later in Berlin to complete the deal. At some point he took the deal back from Siemens and gave it to a French company that never did anything. The most educated of them all but allowed his subordinates to help him loot the economy. Where is Dieziani today? Let's wait and see how the pans out

Why is Nigerian govt so meshed in lies and propaganda, no need for hide and seek, if it's working let the market reflect it. I lived in warri for most of my life, if that refinery is working alot of activities would improve even the dead would know production is going on.
