LAND BASED FISHING | Male Karen Encounter.

In this video I'm back down the Gold Coast chasing tailor and flathead with an exceptional run in with a male Karen. I'll be the first to admit he was right and I was wrong but some people can't help but have a go at others for just doing what they do best. I do manage to catch a few fish and entertain myself in an unusual interaction revolving around what's right and wrong when it comes to fishing.

Ah the "Darren". I had a similar experience except it was no fishing between certain times & I was fine to be fishing when I was. We went up to the sign and I showed him, of course he got more angry & vocal. Fortunately police on push bikes rode up & he demanded that I be arrested or fined. They told him to calm down, he didn't & they actually said, "Sir he is right so just piss off & leave him alone". He was so shocked he walked off mumbling to himself. 😂

Mate takes me back years, I used to fish of the breakwater in napier New Zealand. I caught a Kahawai, only about 2 kilos, and was shaking with excitement. I then realised I love fishing and have had boats ever since.

A great video mate. I agree with you on the fact the rules need to be seriously looked at. Yes you were fishing in a no fishing zone. But like you said there was nobody in there and no way to get a snag. Funnily enough some of the pro comp guys fish into there from the boats.

Pretty sure that no fishing zone only applies directly in the area of the stinger net. Might be worth clarifying that, but unless there's signs all the way along all the entrances, it's not applicable to the whole beach.

We have a pretty identical situation down in Melbourne where there is a saltwater pool where we fish and it doesn’t matter that we don’t get snagged, don’t fish around people swimming and clean up after ourselfs we still have people giving us crap and going as far as assaulting us when we are nothing but respectful it’s a shame people don’t have and real clue on what’s harmful or not they all just want to go on an ego trip and act like a hero

Fair enough you didn’t know there was a no fishing sign and there was nobody swimming anyway. Some people can’t help themselves. I’ve seen some radical footage from the US with some crazy Karen’s going off over people fishing. What’s even more scary is that over there people carry guns .

Tides can play a role mate but if I’ve got the time to go fishing I just fish whatever tides I’ve got and make the call on the day as to what to fish and where to fish.

Well sea mullet on that bridge wer 32 in or 800mm only ever got one 855mmover 8kg on fly others jagged . Gear 13 ft surf number snapper weight with 6 huge trembles up line spaced apart 150mm. I agree with Man Karen this time. Its pretty rare for me to say that, but common sense should prevail when your fishing in a well known children's swimming area. Everyone on the coast knows its a kids swimming zone & your absolutely wrong. There is a number of snags, thick weed beds & a few rocks in that area & ground nets, and boundary nets to leave a hook on if a fish runs. So personally i think anyone who fishes there is an arrogant fool and deserves to be heavily fined. You have a couple of hundred kms of beaches along the coast, why fish in the kids protected swimming zone ? I have friends take their tiny tots there and id hate them to get hurt by idiots who cant follow fishing laws because their too self riches to walk 20m and read the obvious sign.

Mate I was unaware initially and I admitted I was in the wrong once I read the sign. I did it once and haven’t since. If anything this video helped educate others, I can’t own up to much more mate.
