Pretty much randoms that became mates yeah.

That weight is on the light end of the scale so good for bream in the right situation but it might be a bit light for fishing deeper water around there with the current and all. Best this I could say about fishing land based with lures is to be versatile and on the move searching for fish instead of waiting for them to come to you.

I love em mate, bit chewy but I love the texture.

When we first started doing boys trips up there in 2005 we very rarely got sharked, we got done by grouper more than sharks but now they are absolutely everywhere up there. From the reefs to up the creeks mate it’s crazy.

Over regulations on sharks mate, sharks are basically protected and left unchecked when every other fish is kept in check with size and bag limit regulations. Shark populations are out of control compared to the rest of the oceans biomass and anglers are the first to see the problem unfortunately donating the majority of our catch to them.

@@LiamFitzpatrick yes I get that, it might be a problem until changes are made, those sharks will associate boats with struggling prey and hang around them, I watch a lot of fishing videos and so many others are losing their fish too. Thanks for answering comments, enjoying the videos 🎣

I feel like that’s asking to gut hook fish running that many hooks mate. Typically a quality fish will take that bait head first and hook up and the majority of pulled baits are from non target species like bream. I guess more hooks will help but when a giant eats a bait that big F off 8/0 doesn’t let you down mate.

Never heard of anyone eating them mate, I’m sure you can but my guess is they’re full of bones and not worth the hassle.

Traditionally pro mackerel guys would run straight mono in about 30lb with the same connection I’ll mention in a second. What we were using is braid either 50-80lb with long mono leaders 3-5m long to give some shock absorption from their staggered lunging runs down to a snap clip for quick changes to the lures. The lures have pre rigged single strand wire in 69lb with haywire twisted ends, one connected to the lure the other either left as a loop or connected to a solid ring to connect to the snap clip. Problem’s that can arise from the clip and solid ring is if the fish breaks the surface the connections can pull a bubble trail underwater triggering another mackerel to bite the area the bubbles are coming from. Doesn’t always happen but is a possibility. That’s pretty much it mate, hope that helps.
