Land Clearing for Pond Job - Volvo 140 - Burning Brush

Getting started on clearing trees and brush for the new pond job with Dirt Perfects Volvo 140 excavator. Things go really well with getting the trees cleared and the burn pile until we end up blowing a hydraulic line on the 140. Trying a few new camera angles for this land clearing job as well. Boy I think your video is working when I can practically smell it. With the camera amongst the trees coming down and then starting a fire with green wood only to end with hot hydraulic oil all over the engine compartment and your hands. Yeah, this video was smelly! But not in a bad way mind you, more of a memory provoking way. Nice job.

Captain, I occasionally end up with firewood, and I do not burn wood. I found a couple of needy families in my community that heat with wood. I dump the firewood in their driveway. I get rid of the firewood, and they get heat. You might check around if there is someone who needs your firewood. You seem like the kind of person that would appreciate doing that for others. The heart of a fire fighter.

The open area is really starting to shape up and with the drainage “ditches” running through there now it’s clear that the “lake” won’t suffer from lack of water. Just be sure to engineer a good overflow. 🤣😂

Build yourself a armored camera box as a practice for welding. A spot for a cable bike lock if you want to use for long exposure shots in places cameras might walk away and a spot for a ratchet strap to hold it to a tree/pole in normal use. No fear of a tree hitting it and if built well you can change out the type of camera from a trail cam to the different hero camera setups.

I've had hoses blow apart like that, either a bad crimp or just a bad chunk of hose. That axe cam was a neat shot, I am surprised how smooth that tree fell down. I wish the west would get some of that heavy rain, its been hazy for weeks here in Idaho from all the fires burning further west of us. Last week it was so bad visibility was under 5 miles.

I have nothing against the Go-pro camera you use - but when you put it in danger it can get expensive. Have you thought about an inexpensive version of similar cameras you can get from sites like banggood? They usually run under $75 so they can be put in harms way . Just a thought for things like the Ax Cam which by the way I really enjoyed.

Looks like an original hose possibly based on the lay line on the hose and my experience. The lack of hose material up inside the fitting tells me that hose was never crimped properly, and how the hose blew out of the fitting like that.
