Hey, respects to you over there in Germany. This is the Promenade Concerts held at the Albert Hall. Promenade..because on the last night...the Promenaders, as can be seen, stand and sing anthems as the orchestra plays. Its been like this for decades, even when our countries have been at war. It's a symbol of unity, inspiration, hope and Britishness. Regrettably, spoiled by Lefty Marxist Scum who want to spoil everything that's good decent and wholesome. Good party though !! Respects from the UK.

I'm part Irish and part English and part Scottish, society says the different parts of myself should hate each other for historical reasons, when really we are far more similar than different and we've been on these old islands for so long that we're all mixed in with each other at this stage. I hope we can learn to love one another again, there are far more hostile forces out there and pressing concerns.

I'm from America and I didn't know anything about this part of British patriotism until about 10 years ago. This is awesome! I get chills as a Yank watching this so I can imagine how you all feel. Our Countries both have had to put up with people telling us we should be ashamed our our pasts even as they're beating down a path to get in by any means legal or not. Our politeness and good nature have allowed them to push us to this point but I say enough. Being proud of your culture and your history for either of our two Countries is nothing to be ashamed of. We should all know by now that their intentions are not honorable. They don't wish to change us for the better, they want to rewrite our past and change our future to suit them. The truth is without the influence and sacrifices of young soldiers, sailors and airmen in the 2 world wars of the 20th Century, things would have been much worse than they already were. God Bless America Advance Britannia Long Live the Cause of Freedom God Save the King.

Please do not mistake our archaic patriotic songs with your Disneyfied and prejudice attitude to your own history. I am not ashamed because I was not alive when these atrocities were committed but they were and have been committed. You are very naive if you think anything good came out of the two world wars. There is nothing polite or good natured about capitalist and imperialistic endeavours. Are your intentions honourable? Who do you allude to?

There were people of all races, ages and backgrounds flying flags of many different nations and everyone was going mad belting out this as well the other standards. I was in London during the 75th Anniversary of the Auschwitz liberation and finding out my Anne Frank project was published was very emotional and that was the reason I got invited to the Royal Albert Hall to join the event. I was only 17 years old at the time but I’m now 21 and I continue to be supported by the Holocaust foundations as I continue my interest in the tragedy that unfolded during the war. I should have been recognised by the late Queen for this or maybe the princess Royal might have noticed it

Where else can we understand what makes a nation? The best of British patriotism comes from the deepest part of the heart and is a vibrant prayer to God. This song expresses a positive view of human history, one guided by the Providence. Here, United Kingdom sings together as a nation chosen by Heaven for a worldwide mission. We think then of the many scentits, writers, missionaries, businessmen born in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, who brought values to the rest of the world. Every nation had its dark side, but this piece expresses the very good points of Great Britain. I am French but I really see Great Britain as the homeland of some of my most cherished ideals

@@christopherdavis80 And yet ye sing, when ye wave your flags, that ye (the British) were "first at Heav’n’s command". That at the very beginning when ye "Arose from out the azure main" supernatural entities were having orgasms of ecstasy over just you, egging you on singing "Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves" and that ye never would be slaves. And as for other countries, well compared with thy country, "not so blest as thee" now were they. Naturally, it's all a load of codswallop, but I can't other than think it is codswallop that fires up the jingoistic flag waving.

At 2:42 the choral section begins. Do people around the world know that, for 100 years, in the United States of America, every single last high school, and university, graduation ceremony plays that section, without words, as the entrance and exit march of the graduating students? I mean ALL of the ceremmonies. It is as common as the black cap & gown. Almost no one in the USA knows it has words, much less is a beloved national song of Great Britain.
