What’s happening in this Land of the Lost movie clip?
Once catching up to Cha-Ka, they are trapped by a tree which turns out to be a dinosaur feeding site, being attacked by a Tyrannosaurus. The T. rex chases them until they come to a small land bridge. Marshall is convinced they are safe as he explains how a T. rex has a walnut-sized brain, and is incapable of judging depth and distance. Hearing this as he stalks away, the T. rex stops in his tracks, turns, and runs full speed to jump across the chasm. Chasing them until they reach a crevice in a cave, it gives up, though still wanting to eat Marshall.

What’s the movie about?
Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell from Talladega Nights and The Producers) is a nerdy paleontologist. Drawn into a space-time spiral, he is ejected into a parallel world. He finds himself without weapons or special skills to survive in a world of marauding dinosaurs and other fantastical creatures from another world - a land of spectacular visions and outrageous comic effects known as The (Almost) Lost World. Holly (Anna Friel from The Land Girls and Limitless), his doting assistant, and Will (Danny McBride from Pineapple Express and This Is the End), a resourceful hillbilly, are also on the journey. Pursued by T. rex and Sleestaks (excruciatingly slow reptiles), Marshall, Will and Holly have only one ally, a primate named Chaka (Jorma Taccone), to help them navigate this umpteenth dimension. If they make it through, they'll be heroes; if they fail, they'll be perpetual prisoners of this (almost) lost world.

T. rex not only had a brain much larger than a walnut, but had great vision due to large, forward-facing eyes, giving it excellent depth perception. Also, no dinosaur dragged their tail regularly like this. We've known this since the 70's.

It’s actually not as far fetched as some would think for dinosaurs to understand English. Many species of modern birds are able to understand English words to a certain degree, especially parrots. Because in addition to their ability to mimic human speech, they are sometimes able to understand the context behind certain words and phrases. And since many people have been accidentally trapped in the Land of the Lost for years, Grumpy could very well have listened to them and was able to pick up a few words, and figured out what they meant.

Fun fact: T-rex weighy and bone structure prevented it from running and made it impossible for them to change directions while somewhat running without breaking their legs

Related fun fact: they may have been pack hunters. The younger, lighter ones that didn’t face that problem as much, if at all, would chase and corner the prey long enough for the adult(s) to come in for the kill.

@@hokagehaydn4697 the assumption is based on a single piece of evidence of tracks of different trex next to each other (as far as im aware). Tho apparently they were smart. Couldve been tracks of mom and dad. Id put my money on them being scavengers / opportunistic hunters if they caught prey that didnt try to run. That oversized head was perfect for such occasions.

Some say Trexes are highly intelligent theropods but it’s never known how well they understand human creatures because humans did not exist around dinosaurs. Their brain size depends on the size of their skull and crania.
