I to have a 1959 Series II 88 Soft Top that I have had for 21 yrs. now. Its just cool to me that you let your boy drive, thats how the love for the Landys starts.

There are so many elements of this film I love. A kid learning to drive and having fun. A man who loves his Land Rover, the landscapes. Bravo, very well done, thank you for sharing these wonderful moments.

love it! When stationed in UK we got a 75 defender that was a former royal army signalman's vehicle....was sosososo fun to drive. It had a canvas back and all the original equip from when it was used to power the equip. We shipped it to the US got pulled over by state police in Connecticut .... It still had the special anti radar paint etc....the police thought we were up to no good. Have fun in those!

We have owned a few versions of these classic vehicles and the best in my humble opinion was a Series 3 109" 6 cylinder factory standard Rover inline 6 2.6l sidevalve which was indestructible. Ours was the same Safari Stationwagon with the double roof and included an opening windscreen. Our favourite pastime was to roam through the African Bush around the Kruger NationalPark where we lived at the time and KwaZulu Natal with the windscreen down and the front door tops off. It never ever lt us down and was huge fun in the Bush offroad. You have made my day with this video. Keep 'em coming please! Greetings from the KwaZul Natalbush.

Craig, I’m ready to upgrade. I have been out looking for a TD5 maybe a 1999 or 2000 in white or green. I’m jealous that you got to spend time offloading around Africa. I can only imagine all of the adventures that you had and the memories you made. Thank you for watching and thank you for sharing..

@@EssentialMountainHomesteading My last Landy s a 2000 110 Defender TD5 County SW which served me very well and took me over 380 000km's through virgin Bush in Swaziland and the Lowveld including Mozambique. I drove around the Bush in Swaziland and all the way home to Durban sans a clutch which was interesting. I'd buy another if I could but they've become very expensive now.

According to LR records, yours left the factory October 25, 1966 and was deliver to Rover New York. While the notes shows yours was painted red, it sure looks like it was originally green. It's serial number is 26 away from mine. A total of 811 1967 Series IIA 109" 6-cylinder cars were imported to the North American Dollar Area.

I don't think the colour code or colour on the data photo is per vehicle, but just a random photo of that specific model.. I've got the same one in South Africa, with it's original 2,6 lt engine... Haven't even checked the chassis number, as they imported thousands of them in CKD form this way... Not very popular here as the 88" and 109" pick up versions, as we drive them "topless" about all year round.

That GM motor is like having a brother in prison.... You don't tell anybody about it... 😮😮😮😮 And now I'm spilling my beans as well. 😂 Got the same Chevy 4,1lt straight 6 in my '67 Siia 109, and it's a dream, but very very thirsty.... I've got 110 diff centres in, changing the ratio's so that it could eleminate the need for an Overdrive... My favourite vehicle between the seven Landies I have.. 🇿🇦😋🇿🇦

Dude, your analogy cracked me up! It's like having a secret you don't want anyone to know, but now we're all in on it. Your '67 Siia 109 sounds like a beauty, even if it's a bit thirsty. And seven Landies?! That's awesome! 🤘🇿🇦

The 6 cyl did not replace the 4 cyl! The 6 cyl were used just for the US market. Hard to find some of the spare parts now. The 4 cyl was in use till the end of the production and had more than enough power for those light vehicles. Not for the Autobahn but for it’s intended off road use. 😉

those old 292 Chevy straight 6's were a great engine and bulletproof, but I think that you should put either a 3.9L 4 cylinder Cummins or a 5.9L 12 valve Cummins in those old girls!! ;-)

I own a forward çontroll 6 cylinder. That station wagon is a lovely Land Rover. If you ever consider finding an original side exit engine. I recommend joining the forward control 900club.org they cover all six cylinder models. I missed out on two engines 2.6L. One was a spares and the other a 20k miles from new. The third was from a station wagon. The water pumps for a station removable and smaller pulley. Whereas the water pump pulley on a FC is hefty and pressed on as the fan drive prop shaft is way at the front. It bolts onto the pulley. But then I have nothing against a retro fit replacement engine and that Chevrolet six is one of the best. I also best it's better on fuel being OHV. Your Land Rover has charecter great video. My series 2b I found in a barn and has 5324 approx miles from new. Just last night fitted the fan assembly that took me two years to find 😀. It was removed to save fuel.

Land Rover! THE BEST 4x4 in the world, everyone has copied them, Hummer, Jeep you name it! 👍🏻 What motor are you running that sure sounds nice! In the UK we put V8’s in ours! She is in very good condition sir, way better than mine but I am going to overhaul mine. If a nuclear war happened, Land Rovers would be the only vehicles running as nothing electronic in them! EMP proof!
