Land Rover Discovery 4 SDV6 lower steering column joint replacement

Having a slight bit of play in the steering, I decided the fault was in the lower steering column joint. I filmed how I changed it to hopefully help others that want to change their faulty column.

I think you did this all backwards 😂, I undid the top bolt in about 30 seconds with a socket extension which i’m pretty sure is what the workshop manual tells you to do.

Was there any wheel shake, left to right, during driving with the bad column?

No shake, just a bit of play

Why didn't you move the uj one spline or is there a master spline?

The shafts both are shaped, so will only fit one way

How much play did you get with the cheap eBay one? I’d always recommend the genuine for these. Nothing else competes mate

@@olliesgarage that surprises me mate. I had the same issue with calibrating the steering angle sensor. Dropped the suspension etc. all the faults u had. But good explanation on the job mate. And lovely truck.

I need this fixed in my car nova Scotia Canada .lr3 v8 SE. Zero high speed stability too much play one inch left and right it feels. Turns into shit wobble. Till I reduce speed to 90 km or 100km hr

Looks like you have possibly fitted a LHD one to a RHD car.
