just like to say a big thank u my td5 been missing for 3 weeks new fuel pump.filter, loom. MAF meter other stuff no one new why it was still missing and lost power took to garage no fault codes found i was really upset they cud be injectors which i couldnt afford so i came across yr vid and done wat u said on my own too...and after all the guys that have looked at it u were the one that fixed the prob..works fine thank u so much..phil

100% cured in less than 10 minutes, A very big thank you from Oz, land of the Kangaroo at fault, dam things have no road sense as 1 of the poor things discovered a few weeks ago, full on frontal strike at 4am whilst doing 90km/h, luckily with an ARB bar fitted, Thanks again, Trev.

Had this horrible cutting out ever since I bought my disco td5 about 6 months ago done a full service had the inlet manifold off and the intercooler both now clean as a whistle still playing up so changed all turbo hoses and rad hoses as all a bit rough final issue as you recomended bypassed the hose from turbo to intercooler pipe problemo goneski 😎 Cheers for the hack I have now fitted a new MAF as it was a little spurious as to its working and she runs like a beaut thanks man keep up the great vids 🤘

Just got to say thank you for all your td5 videos. Also it's your fault for many of my 4am's getting to bed watching KZbin haha. Just bought a 99 td5 to get into off roading (new to it ). Because of your videos i knew to forget what it looks like but get underneath it (rear chassis) checking for rust etc etc. Finally got one ok underbrush. Found waste gate spindle stuck so freed up (your videos). Bypassed relay (your videos again). Am a heating engineer by trade but someone shows me something I'll pick it up quick. My question for you or anyone in comments that can help would be great. The jeep I've bought has a 4" terraferma suspension lift. 2.5"body lift. All done before my purchase by a 4x4 off road garage. It's got correct wide angle props. The tyres are 285-75-16 beadlock rims. Powersteering when stopped it's a nightmare (as you would expect) with them tyres etc etc. Is there anything I can do like upgrade power steering pump etc or should standard pump be ok with this setup and I have a fault. It's seems ok on the go but at a stop (let's just say I don't need to do my arms in gym haha). Any help would be greatfull. And keep up the videos (especially td5s 😁) best by a MILE for in depth help 🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒#SUBSCRIBED

Excellent clip. I just sold my 3.5 V8 110. Plan to buy a 90 td5. This certainly looks like a complicated engine to work on.

The other thing to check on the waste gate actuator is that it moves with the linkage disconnected, if it's stuck work it back and forth with an adjustable with a drop of oil until it is fully free at full travel, this is what can cause overboost fault codes at higher rpm

I did this on my TD5 series 2 and it works, only problem I found was the metal pipe on the turbo, the nipple holding the tube on had melted in place and was a S.O .B to remove probably because of not being removed after 16 years . Thanks karaokedudeable

The standard power steering pump should be ample to do the job even with larger tyres fitted. I’ve not heard of a larger steering pup. Maybe it’s worn or the fluid is low. Glad you liked the videos but sory you didn’t sleep much 😁 Neil

Thanks.. Just not sure if by-pass the Turbo regulator is a good idea. Did read it is a safety for too high turbo pressure and it regulate the turbo when riding in higher area with lower air pressure.

if you connect this directly the pressure of the turbo pipe is the same or enough to push the westgage? , I'll try it I have a problem in where I cannot go over 2500 rpm after around 30 mins of being into the road so I've been reading lot of post around this problem as I was not able to fix it so far, the thing is does not happens every time so lot of post talks about a tired fuel pump that needs replacement. IF you can make any comments base on your experience will be much appreciated. thanks.

I had same kangeroo effect at 3000rpm it was split pipe going to the control valve hence not getting any air to the actuator causing turbo over boost same effect as a stuck actuator arm, engine cuts the fuel to save damage...so if not the stuck arm check the little black tubes to the control valve

hi great vid. question. you say join tube from steel pipe i.e. pressue in to pip on top of air inlet by the airflow which is fine. do you then leave the two outlets pipes on the modulator open or blank them off. cheers keith

HI, I have a d2 auto and I have an issue where if I give it the beans and rev over 3k for a bit or get over 80km/hr, I lose all power and the engine starts to cough wildly. lots of black smoke and I can only drive when the smoke clears out. so far Ive done: removed maf sensor - made the issue occor earlier replaced filter with K&N high flow checked wastegate its moving fine I honestly think that the timing of the wastegate is off or not functioning, causing the engine to choke on its fumes. What do you think?

I will try this tomorrow. Mine kangaroo at 3500rpm if i keep the foot down .. Otherwise it will rew up more if i take it easy. Hope this will help

Tried the bypass on the waste gate worked perfect for a couple of days then loss of power and plumes of black smoke 😫 any ideas 💡
