When are we all going to learn that low profile tyres on massive alloy wheels are exactly what you don't want to be taking off road? In sand and mud; they suck, not enough flotation. Over rocks; they suck, rims can get damaged and can't be belted back into place like steel, and tyres likely to be punctured. Sure, they look pretty and make it drive nice around the block out of the showroom. But isn't this supposed to be the all conquering off road version? And before you say, oh, just swap the rims, good luck clearing the enormous brakes.

Didn’t hear anyone mention improved electrics (reliability). I was at the Paris launch of the regular Discovery and the electric tailgate failed on the orange one - embarrassing or LR to say the least.

Sydney Wicks agreed between the land cruiser. Patrol, defender, jeep and Pajero. The lr4 is very spacious to third row too. This generation made it claustrophobic by looking at it. Maybe its the size as Fortuner

The only real off road capable cars still in production are the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Mercedes G class...I say this because they have axles front and back and are easely costumizable...This is just a SUV with hightened suspension and small wheels no big deal...and for its pice you can get a G wagon ( a special car) or a J W Rubicon at half the rpice wich is a superb off road car and mega costumizable...

Low profile tyres on 20" wheels give it away, designed to look super-cool for people that actually don't go off-road. You could buy a 10 year old Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that would kick its ass off road. V8 supercharged engine with 625 NM of Torque when a standard basic 4 cylinder diesel has 410 NM of Torque? OK, the defender would kick its ass too but they dont make that any more, sigh...

I looked at the crash test for the Discovery SVX. I was amazed to know that the vehicle would suffer so much damage at 50 miles per hour. A vehicle of this capability should be as safe as the landmark.
