Except it doesn't. The yellow "Check Engine" light only means there's a emissions-related error. A wonky lambda probe is enough to make it light up, it has absolutely nothing to do with engine damage.

Did you notice the dangling part (cable?) under the Range Rover at 4:45? It is not visible in the other climbing shots, and that tells a lot about how many shots and cuts were used to make that single scene. The Range Rover probably tried it several times, until the driver started with a high enough speed to do it by sheer momentum.

I had a Kahn Design Range Rover conversion done on my TerraMax and I must say that the result is awesome: tremendous off-road load-lugger with an outrageously luxurious interior and paint job. Best of both worlds - love it!

Yes, a show by a company that isn't allowed to take money commercially fixed the result to make a free advert for Land Rover. It can't be that the car is actually able to make the journey they claimed. Also, the clean shots you see where it's dramatic are filmed again later on. The first person shots are done by James May and the result found. Stunt drivers then do a second go to get the "cool" shots. Also, doesn't help your argument that the car does get muddy.

They do make money commercially. Top Gear was sold around the world by the BBC. That wasn't a full, unbroken lap. That was scene after scene after scene and no doubt there was some cleaning and polishing between scenes until they got each section right.

Just five punctures and the sensitive electrics which decide to ping broken/error messages on the dashboard as soon as the electrics feels there is something different with it. And I should know, ours feels the needs to tell me tyre pressure errors and suspension faults despite the fact there is nothing wrong with it.

And it was abused daily too, now have a V6 late 2014 model and only had one problem on it and that was caused by me. It might be the fact that he fucking threw that thing on the bottom of the climb. Just 10 sec before. I cringed hard 😂 Its also not a wire but a rubbery thing that protects the exhaust. i drove those trucks in the Marine Corps. they're just about the most capable vehicle on earth. we call them the "7-ton" cause the offroad ability you see in this video isn't at all effected with 7-tons of cargo placed on the truck bed. the beast doesn't even know it's there. if yall want to see an even better truck, just look up the M-ATV

Add offroad wheels and tweak the suspension a little higher and i'm sure this car is an excellent 4x4. I mean, even with typical worthless SUV tyres it was capable of doing quite the route right there. I'm not saying it is a smart buy, but, taking only performance in into account, it's a properly good offroad car.

+FullSpectrum Survivalist You do know that the 6x6 TerraMax in this video has full independent suspension, right? Independent suspension, properly equip will be better than a solid axle for off road. The rock crawlers/jeep guys can have more flex/travel with their solid axles but why do you need all 4 wheels to be touching the ground if you have diff locks? While there is many more capable vehicles than the Landrover, the Landrover is a very luxurious vehicle that can go pretty much anywhere. Even more impressive is they used the stock tires.

Rick V That's a 6X6 vehicle. In a 4 wheel drive independent suspension will get your ride turned over, so no a Land Rover will not go where a solid axle can go, and a Jeep will go better, and do it cheaper. They use stock tires because they don't really have much of a choice due to design of the Land Rover not being capable of being upgraded to large tires, so how is that impressive? Have you ever saw a Land Rover turn over trying to ascend a steep grade?, well I have, and independent suspension is why. I can tell you he wished he had a live axle that day. Off Roading isn't about luxury.

The Rovers are awesome but it's sad to think that so few people use it as an offroad vehicle... much like the Mercedes g550, most people who own them are wealthy and you're more likely to see it well pampered in a garage then the desert roads of Nevada
