Thank you so so so much for this video. Have just replaced the actuator on my 05 disco 3. If it was not for your video I would still be out there throwing tools at it hoping one would connect.

This might help. I ended up using a paint can opener that you get free at the hardware store when you buy paint to use to pry open tail gait cover to get to actuator. It worked the best for me after buying and trying prying tools.

This video is the most helpful out of all videos my situation was slightly different corrosion on the handle the switch is sealed but the spring loaded handle had a bunch of corrosion build up and would not let the device to swing freely make contact with the trigger on the switch

You make it look so easy, but it is not easy at all. Try to do the same thing with you inside the Rover, with the gate closed and locked. Big difference. You will destroy the panel and the plastic frame, also its even harder to pull the panel on the sides as it it is on the top. As always... Thanks for all the videos.

Though I do not have one (LR3) I have a FFRRSC and Rover knowledge is always a plus.

Hello, thank you very much for your video and your very detailed advice. I have a 2007 D3 and I have this problem with a blocked trunk. I followed all your advice but when I released and pulled on the cable (the elbow end was actually broken), my upper tailgate did not open. No effect on the cable, impossible to pull it. Do you have another solution to help me out?

What if it is intermittant... sometimes it take a week and suddenly it will unlock?

It sounds like your actuator assembly is in the early stages of failure and should be replaced while you can still open it up. We have a complete replacement kit available at: www.roverparts.com/Parts/TLRK

@@carrazer001 sorry - not sure on that one... you definitely want to replace the actuator when you remove the faulty one.

Atlantic British what if I install the old one again and pull the wire, do you think the upper latch would release?

@@carrazer001 Honestly, I'm not sure... sorry.

Please help. My 2013 LR4 upper tailgate keeps rapidly unlatching on it's own. Engine on or off, even with battery removed from key fob. Can you help?
@atlanticbritishrp6 жыл бұрын
Hi Gunner, it's possible that the rear latch and actuator assembly might need to be replaced, however, we would strongly recommend some further investigation into the issue to make sure that there are no pinched wires in the circuit that could be causing the rear latch to release.

Thanks so much for the reply. Its very frustrating as it is somewhat intermittent. It went a month with no issues and returned the other day with a vengeance. I will replace the switch 1st to see if that helps. I thought maybe a relay but the book doesn't clearly call out what relay controls the hatch.
