Hi Gordon...the YRM battery box is a good upgrade likewise the split charging relay makes life simple when wiring in twin batteries and love your Landies name..regards Paul

Do you need to remove the seat boxes in order to remove the battery box? I need to change the battery box and have no wish to take out the seat boxes too. Because of the sloping sides with the standard battery box theres quite a bit of available room with a squared off battery box - you can push the batteries to the outer edge and create space inboard. Do you have any views on whether a steel or Al battery box is better? Both are available. Thanks.

Hi..i don't know if you can remove the battery box without removing the seat box as i have always removed the seat box to do it..but i think you can actually get the battery box out without removing the seat box. As for aluminium versus steel i would put the aluminium in as it won't rust..

@@All4Overland Thanks for the reply. The battery box is riveted to Al components too so that makes sense.

Riveting video Paul, what split charging kit is that? Can’t wait to see her up and running
@All4Overland2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom...glad you found the video riveting lol....the splitcharger is MVM Split Charge Relay Kit 12v 140 AMP 110AMP off Ebay and i really can't wait to roll her out of the garage to try her...regards Paul

Great build. A lithium battery with a dcdc charger would give you alot more power and alot lighter. Solar plugged directly into the dcdc.
@All4Overland2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen...lithium with a dcdc charger is defo the way to go...i am looking to do this in the future once we get the truck out of the workshop and test all the other things out..but for now this system will do for all the shakedown tests...please make sure you are subscribed to follow along with the build..regards Paul

Be very careful. If you go to hot countries you will find that the battery box gets too hot and LiPo4 batteries lose a lot of capacity. Stefan of All Offroad Adventures has reverted back to AGM batteries for this very reason.

It's easier if you take the doors off, Bet it makes you miss the light weight for the ease.
@All4Overland2 жыл бұрын
HI Gaz...taking the doors off a lightweight is so easy compared to the hours i spent lining these ones up to make them fit so don't think i will be taking them off again in a hurry..regards Paul

FWIW, I have the identical split-charge relay in my Disco' and the thin earth-lead was REALLY badly soldered to the circuit-board. Whoever cut the insulation had also cut through most of the copper wire and there was only about 3 strands of wire attaching it to the PCB. Had to dig out the silicone potting compound (fortunately, pretty soft stuff), unsolder the wire, tidy it up and resolder it. Typical chinese stuff - basically an okay design but poorly assembled.

Hi Si Crewe...i have the same split charger in my disco and Beryl...have never had an issue with either of them but if i do the first thing i will check is the earth lead now that you have told me about how it is joined to the board...thanks alot..regards Paul
