Cherry is 100% correct! Buy a practical vehicle as family car. Electric cars can't be good family cars or only cars of the household. They are just gimmicks. You need a comfortable long hauler for family trips! You need legspace and good highway crusing vehicle. You may opt for a hybrid or a smaller but turbo engine, but no pure electric car is same as conventional vehicle's peace of mind. If you guys are spending big bucks on a Defenfer, its better to buy a GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe is also an option on the more economical side but same platform. You can also check out Ford Expedition. VW Atlas, Honda Pilot, Infiniti QX 60 or QX80. GMC Acadia, Chevy Traverse are also decent. Acura MDX and Mazda CX90 are also excellent chocies! You should check out the Mazda, its a sweet spot with Japanese reliability and german luxury! Not recommending Toyota/Lexus due to theft issues. You should be able to get a very good family vehicle under 80K budget which you can keep for years.

@umarc9767 we have 4 feet of Buffalo, and we have had EV since 2016. On our 6th EV. Wife, mother, kids, and in laws we all love EVs. No maintenance, no dealerships, and no shops. Charge at home and works. Norway/Sweden 90% cars are EVs. Best.

The most practical family hauler is a minivan (Sienna, Odyssey, Pacifica) with an abundance of useful features along with the potential for cargo hauling. Owning a Nissan Quest and never regretted the purchase. If you overlook the off-roading ability they are easy on gas and showroom price. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

When considering cost you need to consider complete ownership costs including emi, insurance, regular maintenance and reliability. Brands like BMW, Hummer, Land Rover are all high maintenance brands. And the Cybertruck is not practical at all! Sunny seems to be getting carried away 😜

Paji, I have two babies and if you want electric Suv then I would strongly recommend Rivian R1S . It’s 7 seater. Space under trunk, drop last two seat it will give big massive trunk space and big frunk too very practical and also 410 miles with max battery pack. I have one. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me any questions. It’s like Range Rover but electric. Also you can do off roading with standard wheels and camping and put roof camp. It’s just few benefits of owning this Vehicle. Good lucky. Congratulations again for baby!!!

Minivan's are the best when it comes to travelling with the kids and having a lot of space + it is 7 seater so the entire family can travel together. Toyota Sienna comes in HYBRID AWD option i believe and it has all the comforts needed and down the road when the baby gets older, they can easily enter and exit the Van due to low entry clearance for the back seats. Do check it out before a decision is made.

Unless you're going for a minivan, the only truly spacious options in North America are the Yukon XL, Suburban, Escalade ESV, and Navigator L. How will you charge and drive car in Canadian winters? If EV is your only car, then you'll have to wait 1hr or more at public charging stations. If there's a line before you, then forget about it. If you desperately want battery, get hybrid. It will smoke any sports car for the first 16 km speed at pickup.

If you really want EV, I would prefer Model X or Rivian R1S for its rating,reliability, cost per mile and range. Hummer EV is 200KW battery would cost you like madly on EV charge per mile almost $0.5/mile canadian. Hard truth with EV is they all need to be driven at 60 65 mph for efficiency and also only go for 60 70% of total rated mile in cold weathers. EV are only for sunny weather in my experience because in cold battery degrade drastically. I would suggest check lease on volvo xc90 plugin. It has crazy horsepower with 40 mile ev only. One of the best car to drive, mileage is good, handling and power worth it as well for safety.
