The landcruiser was on heaps steeper descent in hill descent challenge. In Australia those Rangerovers are all dead in driveways everywhere. The landcruiser's are all still powering on making own tracks anywhere they want.
@rexeverything45786 ай бұрын
Centre diff lock is crap. It's a transfer case lock, only supplying equal power to the front and the rear, it's not a diff-lock like people think. It doesn't stop wheelspin, and does f all for traction. Nobody there understands 4x4s, especially Matt. Same tyres, different profiles...what about tyre pressures? The Cruiser will have better ballooning ability (more tyre on the ground) over bumps, especially the rock crawl, than the low profile tyres on the Rangy. Settling an off-road capability test by a drag race? 😔😔 I mean 😔😔 There are many different variables in 4x4s. There's the gearbox, the transfer case, and the finals drive...none of which were taken into consideration in this...drag race or test. When you are away from civilisation, reliability is the main concern, not drag racing. It means nothing in a 4x4 test. Also, the art of off-roading is not as simple as point and shoot. Most take care or their vehicles, and do hill climbs and rock crawls as slowly as possible allowing better control and wheel placement, only gassing it when there are no other options. That rock crawl was a joke. Fancy getting hung up on the centre of the Rangy and on the diff of the Cruiser... 😔😔 Matt might, I say might be able to pick a line on a track, but he's, Nick too, are mentally stunted when it comes to picking lines off-road. I do like Nick, however, he can take a loss on the chin and laugh it away. Yanni thinks he's racing for slips. You get guys...well, you get some guys who can drive for the runs, why not get people who at least understand the basics of a 4x4? I know. It's Matt's show, and if he can't drive a 4x4 for shit, the other driver must equally be as backward... It's funny how there's never a professional driver who wins runs on that strip. It's always Matt or that goof Yanni. This contest is Landcruiser all day, every day. Rangies are a pretty decent 4bi, and even though this one was $2500 or whatever, it does come with a $5000 annual repair bill, more if driven hard like this by people who haven't a clue. The alloy heads on the V8 cannot handle a hot climate, they have a history of warping and blowing gaskets unless they've been 'fixed' to better handle the heat outside of the UK. Toyotas, especially Landcruisers, have a world-wide support network, but rarely need it. Why else do you think Arabs choose them to run all over the desert? I've never seen an Arab in a Range Rover. I wonder why... The Cruiser will never break (okay, they do, but rarely). And, that's what to buy if you want to get involved in this. I've had hands-on experience since the mid 70s so don't give me lip.

@@PrioCaptSend It means a hell of a lot off-road. So you have as much understand of this topic as, say...Matt? Did you read any further into my comment or did you just stop there? If you did, you'd see that I explained the main reason why the profiles and especially pressures make a huge difference in many/most situations off-road. Low profile tyres also can cause rim damage, and that's the last thing you want with alloys. This is why the 4x4 test will always remain unfair. There is no equivalent to hopping in a car and putting your foot down in a straight line. If you don't know what the hell you are talking about, it's better for all if you simply don't talk. 🙄🙄

The reason the air suspension and HDC kicked off suddenly is more than likely due to a poor/low running battery, and if you know Range Rovers, you’ll know it’s common knowledge to not cheap out on batteries as they have loads of electronics, if the air suspension was up and the diff was locked it would’ve swept the rock crawl easily as it has no rear solid axle for it catch on like the LC did, also the L322 was hardly destroyed, especially when you consider it was bought for less than 50% of what was paid for the LC, nicer examples fetch more and it’s common to see L322’s at high mileage.

Mark massive fan, but not going to bother with this one, the answer is Landcruiser (and bit of a Landrover guy). As they say, if you want to get anywhere take a landrover, if you want to get home as well, take the Toyota. Oh go on then, I’ll watch it anyway.

The only thing that’s missing from my 24 year old LC 100 V8 4.7 LPG Amazon is a rear locking diff (for better off road traction) and a five speed auto gearbox (for better fuel economy). Since converting my Cruiser to run on Autogas LPG , I’ve still saved myself a truck load of money while preserving to sheer power of that beautiful power plant. So, so happy with my car! 😊

My former employer had a few of those land cruisers with the straight 6 turbo diesel. Awesome cars. Later he got the successor with the v8 diesel. Land cruisers are the best cars for offroading in my opinion. We used them for exploring potential wind farms. One time we came to a site with contractors. One had a porsche cayenne turbo and he other a mitsubishi pajero. They ended up in our car, because both, porsche and pajero were stuck in snow and mud. We had a good laugh towing them.

Wrong the land cruiser would get stuck where the land rover didn't 😂. And I'm on about an defender not a rangy. You can't beat a land rover offroad. Yes land cruiser may be more reliable but defenders aren't that unreliable and are super easy to fix and will hold their value better than a Toyota. I still like toyotas tho

So, you disqualify the RR on the rocks but give it 1 point anyway. Add to the fact that you drive like Miss Daisy and the win for the losing vehicle seems a bit hollow. Oh, and I guess the Toyota drove home towing the RR on a trailer. Toyota fans may be proud, but at least they're not deluded. 😎

@@kellstat What? The Nissan Patrol has been just as good and even better than the Land Cruiser in off-road challenges, especially the Y61 and Y62 models. The reliabilty is more or less the same. They always come out on top on the challenges. You can search it up here on KZbin. The new QX80 looks better than the new LX600 in both specs and interior, meaning the Y63 Patrol has a good chance of being the better against the LC300
