I’m shocked that Kevin didn’t know the thick vs. standard vs. thin gear thing, but I guess he doesn’t nerd out over the parts/mechanic type stuff. I actually deliberately went with 4.88 thick gears and 4.10 carrier in my truck hoping that a thick ring gear would be stronger. I also tend to nerd out over every part that I purchase.

Good to see you working on Feebs! Now you need to bring her down to Texas and attend one of our huge massive Land Rover Rallys. There's two per year put on by two different people. In the spring, it's called SCARR (south central area rover rally) usually held at Barnwell Mountain. The other is in the fall, called Hill Country Rover Rally, usually held at Hidden Falls Adventure park just outside of Austin. Would be nice to see ole Feebs in person at one of these rallys so all us Rover nerds can geek out on her.

Great Video Chris. BTW, I saw you guys in Colorado. I was coming off of Imogene as you were about to travel over the top of Imogene. I asked Kevin and Brittany how the new suspension on the Step child was doing. Great to see you on the trail. I spent a week in the area doing all the Badge Trails and more. Keep up what you're doing.

Keven, most websites that sell the thick cut gears will say to use the 4.10 carrier. I just picked up an ARB and 5.38 gears for my YJ, one more step to a trail ready rig! Still need a ton of welding, 14" ORI struts and some wheels and tires but It should be ready for the trails come spring!

FYI; I have a 4.30 Dana 60. The lockers go 4.10 and down or 4.56 and up. So I found out the the number stamped on the ring gear will determine which locker is correct. mine could have gone either way but also took the 4.10 and down. So you are correct but the easiest way is to give the stamped number on the ring gear to Northridge and they can order the correct one. Keep up the good work.

@@Garage_Speed Did you fab the actual covers/plates? (the black metal part holding the 7 inch lights and the two smaller lights) There used to be a company called Tuffrok that made something similar but they’re defunct now. I dont know that the thick cut gear is actually stronger, the teeth engagement is still the same, may just add more weight? They made them for guys that had the numerically lower carriers because one day they changed their minds and decided they wanted to gear it deeper but didnt want to have to buy a new carrier to do so......thick cut was just a fix for budget friendly builds 😎
