I’m late to this party but as an Irishman living in Boston Massachusetts I’m very impressed with this educational and informative video. That gentleman’s IRISH language is impressive.

Proud to be of Newfoundland, Irish and English heritage. One of the most fascinating episodes of Land & Sea. We should all try to take a lesson from Mr. O'Brian and learn to pause to think and appreciate where we come from. We'd be a more humble people for it - What an interesting man.

Thanks so much for this timeless program. My brother and I trekked back to Loughlinbridge, county Carlow -- the home of my great great grandmother Anne Shirley Cahill, who came over in 1817 and settled in the Ottawa Valley with her husband Michael Lacey Cahill. We had the same sense of wonder and nostalgia, and gratitude, to walk where the pioneer ancestors had walked.

@@mariapierce2707 I’m from there but live in Boston now. I go home( or used to before the plague) regularly. I’ve met so many people of IRISH extraction in Massachusetts and surrounding states and without fail they say that they must go to “ the sod” before they die.I’ve never heard even one person that came back from there who regretted it. They felt like they were home at last and people were kind, friendly and felt like family. Do not put it off any longer. We only come this way once!!!

Hey, you don't have any ancestral connection to the poet Keats, do you? I've heard of a family in Nfld descended from the brother of Samuel Taylor Coleridge ... !
