My Father, Ralph Coombs, was 1 of the men who build The Willing Lass. I remember him telling me about it when I was a small boy. I may be mistaken, but I think she was built in Springdale by Pilley's. She sank some years ago out around Newfoundland. Thanks for posting this. It was a very pleasant surprise.

For a long time she remained docked by the side of the Government wharf in Springdale. We used to go fishing of her deck and would pretend we were sailors taking her out on the bounding main! I lovely schooner all around! I wonder what happened to her?

In the old days the crew of the burnt boat would’ve been put to work on “The Willing Lass”!

Was struck by how similar she is to the West Coast, Norwegian built halibut schooners still fishing in Alaskan waters.
