For anyone confused about the slots for nationals; the number of representative slots is based on the population size of each prefecture, that's why Tokyo gets 2 teams to send to nationals instead of one. Every year, the host prefecture gets an extra slot too, that's why Tokyo has 3 slots this year.

Since Tokyo is large, it gets 2 representative spots in Nationals off the bat. additionally, since it is hosted in Tokyo, they get to send a third representative. Fukurodani beat Nekoma, which punched their ticket to Nationals, their next game would only affect seeding in the actual tournament. The Nekoma vs Nohebi match is the bronze medal match and the winner also gets to go to nationals

For this year's Spring Nationals, the Itachiyama vs. Fukurodani match has no bearing on the Tournament seeding. The reason is that Itachiyama won the Summer Interhigh and will be ranked #1 in the Spring Nationals. The top 4 seeds go to the top 4 finishers in the Summer Interhigh. If none of the top 4 seeds is from the Tokyo prefecture, then the 1st representative of Tokyo is seeded #5. However, since Itachiyama is ranked #1, even if Fukurodani beat Itachiyama in the prelims final, they won't be seeded in Spring Nationals.

12:00 I don't know if you guys remember, but Suga used the same strategy against Aoba Johsai in season 1. He and Tsukki switched places at the last moment against Aoba Johsai and Tsukki ended up blocking the spike. Basically, Kenma and Kuroo did the same against Bokuto, letting Bukoto think that Kenma was blocking the outside and then Kuroo switched to the outside.

Btw, Nekoma's libero, Yaku, is a top 3 libero in the country. He's just as good as Noya. #1 is Itachiyama's libero, Komori. He was invited to the Youth Camp that Kageyama went to. Yaku and Noya round up top 3.

@@siddhantgautam29 It's no stated explicitly, but it's inferred that Noya is on par with Yaku. Noya and Yaku keep complimenting each other in their Battle at the Garbage Dump at Spring Nationals. And if we look at the stats of the three players, they're compatible. Out of 5 in stamina/game sense/technique/speed categories: Komori: 4/4/4/3 Yaku: 4/4/4/4 Noya 5/4/3/5 Noya's technique isn't as refined as Komori and Yaku, but his game sense is just as good, and Noya is faster and has better stamina.

Production I.G, who made season 4 and its OVAs, was the same animation studio who made seasons 1 through 3 and its OVAs, and the animation and art is only different because the art director left after season 3 to work on other projects but because there was a 3, 3 & 1/2 year gap in between the end of season 3 and the beginning of season 4. The only episodes done by a different studio are episodes 15 & 19.

So basically, prefectures with a larger population gets 2 slots for the actual national tournament, that’s why both teams in the finals match in the Tokyo Prefecture here they automatically qualify and the result of the finals match will only affect the seedings in the actual tournament. Then, since Tokyo will host the actual Spring Tournament they get to have a 3rd representative, and each host prefecture will get an additional slot. Great reaction!

just to clarify something, since you brought up comments. I am a heavy critic of your Haikyuu reactions, you probably already memorized my avatar and know that i am always critizing (or maybe you havent lol), but i only criticize because i have expectations for you. If i didn't liked you i wouldn't even waste my time watching you, and i criticize many things regarding the way you deal with a few subjects specifically in haikyuu, because i know you can be even better. Suming: i only criticize because i enjoy it. Everytime a new haikyuu video pops up i get happy instantly, even knowing i will be angry with you at some point lol. I just dont want you to take my criticizm as hate. I only criticize reactors that i like. So the things i say mean something and my words are not empty. You can take my words or not, its up to you but i always do it with the expectations you will actually take on the things i say in the comments. Of course you dont need to, In fact you can just ignore me everytime, its totally fine but in my part of things, i do it because i want you to improve. I like you, thus i will criticize you, or should i say, i like your reactions enough to spend my time writting to you. Its just a little annoying when you spend like, almost TWO MINUTES laghing of a silly joke about something unnimportant. I know a lot of text sorry :s I am a Haikyuu simp, if I see a Haykiuu!! reaction I insta click its one of favourite animes. I don't follow every single reactor cause I don't like all styles, everyone has its own and that's great. I agree with certain things about this comment, I believe this person has a straightforward personality so its more likely to point out something when they are bothered about it, and it can come out as rude to some people (Cause text can sometimes be ambiguous cause of lack of intonation), but I believe he was NOT disrespectful so I am ok about it. I have 12 years watching anime so I've already watched most of the good shows and a ton more (Not that me having a lot time watching anime makes me better, I don't care about newer people or casual anime watchers since we all are enjoying anime and that's what matters). When the reactions to anime began I was so happy to find and watch people react to my favourite shows, in my case I find reactions as rewatching an anime, we all probably have thought "It would be great to erase X show from my memories and be able to watch it again to feel all those emotions again", that's why I believe people love to relive these feelings through new people that begin to watch a show we enjoy. This experience its like making a new friend that just started watching anime, you are eager to show them your favourite animes and see them feel and enjoy those shows. I am that guy that does not like to miss a single second of a show, if I need to open the door for someone, take something out of the oven, answer a call (You get the point). I will pause the video, I like to fully understand what I am watching and catch the little details and be able to figure things out. So naturally I am the annoying friend that watches a movie, series or an anime with someone else and would pause the show If I know they are going to miss something important or a great detail in the show if they are distracted by whatever, sometimes even rewind cause I know missing those few seconds would make them question future events in the show for missing those details when it would have been clear all along if they didn't miss it. I agree with @vzgamer in the fact that you guys talk a bit during reaction and sometimes miss those important seconds. Most of the time as you guys say it will become clear later and I do acknowledge that Haikyuu!! does have a few scenes when they advance the plot rather quickly so I get it a lot of people get lost, like "Karasuno vs Shiratorisawa's 4th set" and "The end of the match of Nekoma vs Fukurodani (Bokuto's team)" in this OVA. So again is understandable and yet my type of people will be mad about it, since sometimes are about you guys talking about jokes that are related to the series but not relevant. The thing is that is IMPORTANT that people get that this is your style and your way of enjoy the show, telling you guys how to watch the show, when to stop it, when to talk seems unreasonable for me. Despite me not liking that in particular I do enjoy most of the reaction so I did continue to watch it. (I am not the guy that ever comments videos at all but since I saw this comment I wanted to give my opinion about it) A lot of people consume your content completely free, and yeah some reactors are working full time on KZbin and some people do pay Patreon to support and consume your content but comments should still be suggestions, or constructive criticism like this person did. If someone does not like the content they are free to stop consuming it. Now I do like your reaction guys, of course I am grateful for the time and effort put onto it, the timer has been great for me. I wouldn't like pauses in between but its just my opinion since you guys already do a big conversation and analysis at the end of each reaction. I hope this gets to you and keep the good work.

I don't want this comment to be too long so I'll try to wrap up as much as I can while keeping this somewhat short. About the beginning, I think it's great how invested you guys are in this show. frankly because sometimes reactors just watch it and never really get super in-depth with all the details, but you guys never miss and you are always striving to learn more and are super engaging when people comment, which is so appreciated because it makes your audience feel seen. It's always a good feeling to watch people fall in love with such a wonderful show, and you guys do a, excellent job at paying attention and dissecting importanr scenes/characters. The new animation is great! everyone does look better (imo), and they fs have bulked up most of their characters-- which is nothing to complain about of course. pretty accurate considering these guys are athletes! Also, they put their BUDGET into bokutos scenes, he never dissapoints. season 4 as a whole offers many incredible action shots that will undeniably get you hyped the fuck up. The match between fukurodani and nekoma is super interesting to me because both are very well rounded teams, and in this particular match you get to see the tactic they use; where they use the first few points or even the first set to analyze the team in order to adapt to their play style and attack their weaknesses. I think this sort of tactic they use is really cool and sets a lot up for the upcoming seasons. Anyways, you two are a delight as always, and I'm pumped to watch you finish the second part and get into season 4!

I love the new style because 1) it's more like the manga and 2) they made Bokuto look so, so good. Anyway, other comments have covered the reason that Tokyo has 3 representatives for the tournament, but one thing I'd like to add since you both noted some of the weird pacing is that these two OVA episodes cover 16 chapters in the manga, so 8 chapters per episode, which is a lot for one episode. I love these OVAs, but there's a lot more in the manga during these parts that just didn't fit into them. (I kind of wish they would've extended season 3 and had a second cour with the content of these OVAs in them.) Daishou (and Nohebi, our snakey school) are interesting characters in that I think it's easier to outright dislike them. However, I find their team compelling in some ways because while Haikyuu! provides us with examples of "good" teams and "great" teams, I think a lot of fans don't realize that teams like Nohebi are often fairly common in high school volleyball. They pretend to be nice to the refs but talk shit about you to your face. We once played a school that did this and even involved their spectators in it. Our gym wasn't huge, so if there was a big crowd, there were often spectators lining around the court (we didn't have those fancy barriers). A parent of one of the opposing players was sitting on the out line so that if we served and it hit near her, the linesperson would call it out because they couldn't see it properly. Their players were equally rude; one of them said something incredibly derogatory about me that almost threw my mom (who ran the scoreboard and heard it) into a rage.

Can't wait to watch this when I get back HAHA Edit: I'm a bit sad about how much was cut out from the actual manga for Nekoma's path to Nationals because there was actually a lot of development from some of the characters who weren't so focused on in the first two seasons(third season don't count haha). I really only have to say that Nohebi Academy(the school with the shit-talking team) is probably the closest to disliking a team that I have ever come to in Haikyuu. I actually felt similar to how Isaiah felt, like even if they get a flashback I decided that I wouldn't sympathise with them much. You'll see why next episode hahahaha. BUT, you got that right Ian, I'm so glad they gave Bokuto his muscles back, because he was puNy in the second season when they first introduced him. He looks so much more normal with thicker arms and a broader back. Kenma is savage and I love him and yes he does have a big-brain. Lev is so wholesomely dumb why is he like this😭 Also, can I just point out that I find it real funny that you guys call some of the characters by their first name and some by their last name😂😂 I know it's probably hard to remember which is the first name and which is the last name in regards to japanese names, but like, sorry I just wheeze so hard when you call Kuroo, Tetsurou, when not even Kenma, his best friend, calls him that HHAHAHAHAH. YES, they all have their own personalities and I LOVE that about Haikyuu. Oh and please tell me y'all haven't finished watching Season 4 yet I will cRy if you have because that would mean y'all have to stop and wait for Season 5 to come out like the rest of us Haikyuu fans😭😭😭 Anyway, thank you for today, loved the reaction and I can't wait for tmr!!

Thanks for all the work you guys put in to your reaction videos! Personally, I much prefer that you guys avoid pausing the episodes to discuss things since it can feel super disruptive to the flow of the reaction. Some other reactors out there do that SUPER often and it gets a little annoying really quickly. The after-episode reviews are usually more than enough--you guys generally offer some really good insight. In the event that you DO happen to miss something big, you can always go back and address it later on if need be after reading the comments. Super stoked that you guys are catching up with season 4...prepare to wait and suffer like the rest of us once it's over haha
