I can’t thank you enough for your information and encouragement. I’ve worked off and on in HR for the past 15 years. I also have my Masters. However, I’m experiencing some of the same problems you’ve described. I’m going to implement the tips you’ve shared and I look forward to returning to share my success with you soon! Thank you again.

Thank you so much for the video. I am currently on my winter break and considering whether I should apply for the HRCI exam, as they are running a special offer. I am pursuing my masters in HR, and my conferral date is in July. Although I have been getting job offers for HR positions through my college job board, I have not seen certification as a requirement. As you suggested, I will focus on highlighting my professional development, familiarize myself with employment laws, and stay updated by reading HBR magazines. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge 💐🙏🏽.

Been trying to get my foot in the door with an HR position, however I have only been able to land one interview and I wasn’t chosen due to lack of experience. Even entry level job posts are asking for HR experience lol I watched your resume building videos and feel I have a targeted HR resume, yet not having much luck. Thinking of getting involved with local SHRM, as well as study for the APHR. Thoughts? Ideas?
@HeyyyHR Жыл бұрын
I'm not a big fan of APHR but attending local SHRM events I highly suggest! I know you'll benefit from my resume review. Here's the link: heyyyhr.com/work-with-me/

Hey Timeka, I am looking to return to work after a long hiatus. I am in my 50’s and have a BA. My resume is not great because my work experience is old. I have years of customer service, I believe that is one of my strengths. I think I would do well in a HR career. I am thinking of going for my Master’s because I feel I don’t have a lot of time to start at an entry level, but will if I have to. I don’t have great recommendations because I’ve been out of work so long. What would be your advice for me?

Your videos are so informative. I have 7+ years of experience in the field of Human Resources (HR Generalist) in India. Recently, I relocated to New Jersey, USA. Despite applying for multiple HR positions, I have not been successful in getting shortlisted. Upon further research, I came across the SHRM certification, which appears to play a crucial role in advancing my professional development. Despite this finding, I am currently uncertain about whether I should pursue the SHRM certification or not. While searching for study materials, I came across your videos. However, I am facing difficulty accessing the study material links as they do not seem to be working, even after attempting to open them in different browsers. Your suggestion will be truly valuable.

Welcome to the US! I would highly suggest getting a resume review (it’s on my website). I work with tons of India teammates so I think it may be the way you speak to your experience in your resume. I can help you change that. Here’s the link to the certification study resources: heyyyhr.com/hr-certification-study-resources/

What LinkedIn courses do you recommend?

I purchased the SHRM CP Learning System through a different platform(books only) Can I Self Study without the interactive portion and what other resources would you recommend? I have been in office management/administrative for over 30 years and now want to get my Bachelors in HR Managment while working somewhere in HR entry level and think the SHRM CP will help get me started.

Here are the resources that I recommend: heyyyhr.com/hr-certification-study-resources/ and I created notes too, here's the link: heyyyhr.com/product/2023-hr-certification-notes-for-hrci-shrm-exams/. Like I said in this video, if your job isn't paying tuition reimbursement, then I suggest starting HR to verify it's what you want to do. It may be helpful to join some HR groups on FB to get insight as well. I share those on via email, so join my email list for those resources too (Here's the link: heyyyhr.ck.page/0243c4358e)
