I have a profound love for both pirates and grixis, with over 12 decks for either pirate tribal, or stealing. Outside of that, my absolute FAVORITE deck that always makes for fun is my Mishra "Step Right Up" deck that animates and copies ATTRACTIONS! It's so much fun, and refreshing for everyone, and only uses the legal cards from unfinity, which coincidentally also makes it incrediblybudget friendly if people want to. I think covering it would be a cool yt short, just asking for a shout out if you do!

I just posted a main comment about this but I read that you liked Grixis & just wanted to let you know about a deck I made that is Grixis landfall. Ashnod, the Uncaring is a 5 drop that has the ability which allows you to copy a trigger of an artifact if you had to sacrifice it to activate. My build uses cards like Liqui-metal Coating & Torque along with Mycosynth Lattice to make all of the lands I play artifacts. I run all of the Grixis fetch lands, fabled passage, prismatic vista & myriad landscape (I think I have a few more other fetches as well but can't list off the top of my head) Anyways, I mainly run those lands with the Grixis shock lands & the rest are basics mostly. The deck mainly takes advantage of the blue creatures with landfall & the Minoraur who gives extra combat steps as well as the elemental with landfall that goads all of an opponent's creatures. The deck is quite fun & you actually can play a pretty high mana curve due to the amount of lands you are going to have in play. Crucible of Worlds is a must as well as cards that can help you recur artifacts just in case they destroy it.

Also, I was going to put this in my original reply but I never thought about animating Attractions lol. That is genius. I built a deck from an Unfinity commander named "Dee Kay, Finder of the Lost" who does different things depending on what result you roll on a dice. I do run some attraction stuff due to them allowing me to roll dice but my win con is sort of a boring one. Anyways, the combo consists of going infinite untap triggers with the Dramatic Reversal combo; after I achieve that I proceed to activate Vexing Puzzlebox an infinite amount of times. (It taps for mana & tells you to roll a D20 & note down the results. When you have 100 counters, you can tap it & tutor for an artifact) Either my opponents will concede because theoretically I will roll an infinite amount of the number 2 (which makes Dee Kay drain each opponent for 2 life) or, I will use the puzzlebox's tutor ability to grab The Millennium Calendar (fairly new to the deck but it helps a ton). and play control until my next untap step, then the calendar will get a charge counter & during my main phase & can restart the infinite untapping which will cause the calendar to trigger & each opponent will lose 1,000 life.

I’ve been wanting to build a mishra deck for a long time just because I think the character got the short end of the stick in the lore. I would love to see a whacky unique build for this guy.
@darkanayer5867Ай бұрын
I mean, I don't think being the most key piece in the origin story of inuargably the most important character in mtg lore, along with one of the main characters in what is considered by many the best mtg book ever made is "short end of the stick" but sure, I want the list too
@markmatteson8490Ай бұрын
@ I just meant out of the two brothers he was clearly the side character. “Short end of the stick” was the wrong way to phrase it I guess. Apologies to the more informed, I am fairly new to Magic and have mostly ingested the lore in short form summary format; which kind of breezes over Mishra’s character outside of being a narrative vehicle for Urza.
@darkanayer5867Ай бұрын
@@markmatteson8490 if you have only read from the Brother's war set lore posts, I reccomend you actually check out the novel "The Brother's war", it's much longer and more detailed, and I'm enjoying it a lot personally. Plus the stories from last year focus more on Urza, but that makes narrative sense since it was just Teferi looking back in time to see what he could learn about the Sylex. Admittedly you are kinda right that he is a tad more secondary than Urza, but it's less noticeable from the book.
@markmatteson8490Ай бұрын
@ I didn’t know there was a novel, that’s awesome! I’ll check that out, thanks for the recommendation. I started playing during All Will be One so I kind of worked my way backwards through the Phyrexia/Brothers’ War storyline.

It is funny that you mentioned Mishra, I have a grixis landfall deck but it uses the alternate commander in that Mishra's precon, Ashnod, the Uncaring. The deck was a bit more costly than my usual lists due to it really needing every efficient fetch land that it could run. (I don't run too many off color ones but do have Fabled Passage & Prismatic Vista along with the Grixis fetch lands & a few others.) Anyways, Ashnod's ability copies the ability of any artifact that you sacrifice to activate. I use cards like Liquimetal Coating or Torque as well as Mycosynth Lattice to make those fetch lands into artifacts. I run the Grixis shock lands & a ton of basics to keep dropping lands. I mainly use the blue landfall creatures & the minotaur that gives extra combat steps. Crucible of Worlds allows me to keep playing fetch lands & getting multiple landfall triggers.

For Galea it is worth noting that cards like Utopia Sprawl and Wild Growth ARE auras. Chamber of Manipulation would go great here.

I have a Zabaz, The Glimmerwasp Artifacts Landfall deck. I use Zabaz to blow up artifact lands, get em' back with Crucible, and play catch up ramp like Knight of the White Orchid to get landfall triggers. Very fun and janky. Also play a couple modular cards to get Zabaz huge and Voltron people out. I can also use cards like Zuran Orb to blow up all my lands and then Second Sunrise to get loads of landfall triggers.

@@decktechsfordecks You certainly CAN work around it. Just make sure Baeloth isn't your only non-land/non-creature mana source. After all your opponents will still have THEIR artifacts and they'll be none too happy about Baeloth.^^

It just looked like you were implying that it was a huge nonbo with all the question marks and caps so I wanted to point out the solid synergy in case you missed it. You also get to choose when you play an impactful stax piece so just don’t play it unless it puts you in a winning position.

I've been toying around with a Satya, Aetherflux Genius lands deck that animates some of the indestructible lands and starts copying them for free landfalls each turn. Also gives an excuse to play cleansing wildfire and white orchid phantom to "ramp".
@raynardnuguid3272Ай бұрын
Braids is the one that looks really interesting. It's technically "ramp-draw" if that's actually a thing. I have one question though. Any suggestions for the win-con?
@decktechsfordecksАй бұрын
There’s honestly a pretty solid amount of wincons in mono black that come to mind but it all depends on how heavy you lean into each strategy. I could see aetherflux being super busted if you lean hard into the artifact storm start.Or we go obnix and try to drain the table 1 landfall trigger plus braids and they are losing 5 life a turn.

@@decktechsfordecks I'll give that aetherflux a try. Thanks.
