Great video! It's astonishing for me to ponder all that's unseen from a few thousand feet above the millions of people. Some sitting down to dinner, others finishing. Some taking their first breath, others their last. Some having their first kiss, others their last. So it goes.

@gerardmoran9560 What a beautiful way to think about the world beneath us when we fly above. Thanks for sharing.

As an airline pilot for 35 years, we used to go into major cities, and say how many people right now are doing xyz. The list goes on and on
@newyorktransportation Жыл бұрын
@evpilot To expand on that, sometimes I look up at an aircraft high in the sky and think about what’s going on up there. People sleeping, dinner being served, etc….

@@newyorktransportation So true. When I was a 76 copilot I flew with a nice guy for 2 months. It was a quiet uneventful evening and I noticed him staring down a lot. I asked him what he was looking at. He told me when he was a kid he'd spend the summers at his grandparent's farm in Kansas. We were crossing Kansas. He said as a kid he'd stare up at the contrails and wish he were flying. He then said part of him wished he was on his grandparent's farm porch. I guess we have to learn to enjoy what we're doing.

Flew out of here in the 80s in a American 727 bound for DFW we almost did not clear the runway the takeoff roll was very long and it was a hot and humid July afternoon. I would say we cleared the rocks and water by maybe 30 feet it was VERY close. This was July of 1986 I was in my early 20s. It almost felt like the planes engines weren't at takeoff setting . When the flight ended the cockpit door was closed tighter than a drum and no pilots to be seen lol
@newyorktransportation Жыл бұрын
@Jeff-sp7bg Sounds like quite the take-off! The short runways at LGA often make for some interesting landings and in your case, takeoffs as well.

1992, Actor Richard Lawson was aboard a US Air Flight 405 out of LaGuardia, bound for Cleveland when an apparent de-iceing problem (During a snowstorm) caused the aircraft to fail the take-off and crash upside down in Flushing Bay. 27 people (in the Captain) perished in the icy water. Richard Lawson survived.

Rikers Island is always to the right for the most part when I flew into Queens. That was quite the hard landing.
@newyorktransportation Жыл бұрын
@chiguy0312 Now that I think about it, yes Rikers Island is more often on the right side of the plane for me too when landing at LaGuardia. I suppose the only time it would be on the left is landing runway 13 which is not so common. And yes that was a hard landing! Rattled the whole plane.

Tienes vídeo de como salir de LG, recoger equipaje
@newyorktransportation Жыл бұрын
@carmenquemec6968 Todavía no tengo un video de cómo recuperar su equipaje en LGA y salir de la terminal. sin embargo, si me dice en qué aerolínea está interesado, puedo intentar filmarlo para usted. I do not have a video yet of how to retrieve your luggage at LGA and exit the terminal. however if you tell me which airline you are interested in I can go try to film it for you.

Guys with box cutters, who have never flown a jet before, can do this without ground support. If you can believe that, you can probably believe anything...whatever you're told.
