Why do the leading edge flaps fold back when the reverse thrust comes on?

They work with the spoilers to spoil lift. Retracting them back further reduces lift helping the spoilers do their job. While the leading edge flaps are extended they make more lift.

All air traffic lands from the EAST. This is because the weather and airflow comes off the ocean traveling west to east. I lived out there in the LA area for 11 years.

Shitty weather for landing at LAX. Best times to land in LAX are at night, and right during sunset.
