The first time I ever flew into LA was in the summer of 1972, it was incredibly exciting! Air travel and LA are a very far cry today from what they were then. I miss those days.

Smoking on the plane, I remember doing that. Free drinks (Alcohol included on Air Canada in the 1980's). The food was MUCH better and every passenger was friendly and curteous to the attendants. Also, watching a movie on a pull down screen in the front of the isle! with those $5 headphones you had to buy LOL. And THE best part of air travel in those years? Getting through customs or into boarding lounges was MUCH easier, and faster!

My first flight to LA was in 1959, in a United Convair 440 from Denver. Via Grand Junction, Las Vegas, and LAX. You walked out to the plane, they served real food and gave free cigarettes with the meal. How I miss those days. NO TSA animals or COVID masks.

As a LAX based flight attendant that every trip starts and ends in L.A. I can say with a level of confidence most days are beautiful flying over Southern California skies, the days of cloud and haze are outnumbered by the gorgeous days, and this year winter 2022-2023 and spring 2023 have be off the chain spectacular.

Los Angeles county alone is well over ten million population. Some 60 different cities are in the county. Fontana, San Bernardino county was once site of Henry Kaiser steel mill. L.A. basin was traditionally a hot bed of many manufacturers including many aircraft production firms. I 605 San Gabriel river highway visible in flight. 27 mile auxiliary road north/south route across valley. Bike path accessible as well. San Gabriel green belt road.

I’m from So Cal, and recognized just about everything on the ground in this video. While flying right over San Bernardino, being able to see Big Bear and the Lucerne Valley (aka high desert) right behind it all at the same time is kinda mind blowing. And just a few minutes later there’s the downtown LA Skyline. It would normally take about 2 and a half hours to drive that distance if traffic’s good the entire way (which it never is 🤣). And the Cajon Pass (aka “the hill”) which is visible in this video, which I have to drive up and down every day (which also sometimes can take a couple hours just to get through because traffic is Almost always bad in the pass).

You're not alone my friend. I get comments every day on my videos from people saying they're using my videos for the exact reason you list here. And I hope it helps when I tell you that many, many people have come back later to say they did indeed conquer their fears and anxieties by watching my videos and doing exactly what you say you are doing. I started this channel to share my love for aviation and travel with everyone, and helping people overcome fears and anxieties was never something I thought that would include, but I'm beyond happy that is is doing just that. My friend, if you ever have any questions about what you're seeing or hearing in my videos, or just general questions about flying, the process, or what's normal, do not hesitate to ask. There are no stupid questions here and I will happily answer any questions you have if it helps you conquer your fear of flying. Happy travels my friend, even if there just via my channel for now!

London is extremely more densely populated than Los Angeles so don't be too hard on your city. However Los Angeles and it's surrounding suburbs have a continuous density that gives an appearance of what I think is the largest city in the world outside of Tokyo in terms of urban continuous footprint

KZbin's algorithm decided that I needed to watch this video, so I did. WOWOWOWOWOW!! Wonderful views of the LA area. Good view of Mt. San Gorgonio, the highest peak in SoCal. Good view of Big Bear Lake. I associate this with the Big Bear Cabin on The Bold and the Beautiful. This was where Stephanie punched Brooke Logan so hard back in 1999 that she went clear over the sofa. Poor Brooke didn't have a chance! Good view of the San Bernardino Airport. Good view of the Ontario Airport. Good views of the mountains running north of the LA area. Good view of LA's CBD. Jeez... you go REALLY low over the freeway coming into LAX! I followed all instructions given by the flight crew.

Been to LA nearly one month ago... loved the breathtaking clear sky! Back to Brasil, I enjoyed the gorgeous landscape of the Wonderful City (so called) Rio de Janeiro. Can it get any better?

A word that is perhaps a bit overused, but for me, this video is truly EPIC ! Over 40 years ago, I flew in to LAX more than a handful of times as a kid. Only a few of those flights saw such a beautiful, clear day! As I got older, my trips out west became fewer and rare to have that kind of view from my window seat. Thanks for sharing this amazing flight experience with us!

Fantastic video. Came here to view this because I was in the middle seat on a recent flight to LAX and the NPC sitting next to me kept the window shut all the way to the gate. 😐

These views look similar to that last minute planned trip to Vegas. Reno-LA-LV-Reno. Saw the Hollywood sign, L.A. Coliseum and downtown L.A. that morning.

To be fair, LA _proper_ doesn't really start until about 13:00 everything up to that point is the IE, San Gabriel Valley.

A superb Video-clip! Breath-taking views of the terrain from an airborne panoramic perspective! Gives us a glimpse of how vast and spread-out the City of Los Angeles (+suburbs) is! L.A. is second only to New York City in terms of span and population! Thanks for uploading this engaging clip!

I can remember going with my Dad in the early to mid-1940's in our 1941 Chevy sedan from Culver City where I was born & raised to what was then the very small L.A. Airport & watching the planes come in to land & take off. Howard Hughes's Hughes Aircraft plant was nearby near Playa del Rey & La Ballona Creek. Then in 1951 in the 5th grade in Mr. Mattheis's class at Farragut Drive School - we took a field trip to the L.A. Airport & took a Western Airlines plane ride out over the Pacific & Catalina & circled back over the San Bernadino Mtns and Big Bear - Lake Arrowhead - etc. - then over the L.A. Basin & landed. Then in the summer of 1953 my parents & I flew Western Airlines from L.A. Airport to Minneapolis to visit family in Minnesota. It wasn't until the 1960's that L.A. Airport expanded & became LAX. That entire area has morphed into a hodgepodge of rooftops - traffic jams that I would NOT want to live in or near ever again.
