Our aircraft actually feels like a nimble small aircraft when you are flying it, except that the controls in the beginning when you just start flying this airplane, they feel heavy and slow to react. Once you get used to, everything feels just right, and then when you realize that you are about the biggest dude in the ramp, it gives you a sense of odd fatherhood towards everyone else there. The B747-400 is a beautiful airplane to fly, it feels that you belong there. Thank you for watching my videos.

Hello Holger, lots of people have problems trying to get a greaser on this particular runway. The reason? The runway has a hump because of the up and down sloping terrain. I have noticed that pilots get spooked by the "disappearing" runway as you land, and they tend to hurry things up by forcing the aircraft on to the runway. The predictable results are; a no flare landing, a firm landing, or a bounced landing followed by an unstable surface run. Just an ugly ending to an otherwise awesome flight. I wish the guy doing this videos would answer your question. My guess is that it is like drive a huge truck on a highway but do not pay attention to me.

In any big airplane the handling characteristics of the machine could vary. For instance i used to fly the B727s and that aircraft flew like an sports car, a semi-automatic sports car. On the B747-400, it handles less like an sports car and more like a Rolls-Royce and if you will, a "driving Miss Daisy" type of vehicle. Perhaps even a semi truck. It definitively, feels and moves not like Jagger, but more like a heavy uncle Bubba lol. I hope it helps! Thank you for watching my videos.

It seems to be a nice clear VFR day...why no hand flying the airplane? Is it company policy to turn the auto pilot off at the radio alt call out of 500 feet? Nice landing though.

All valid points my friend, so I will try to explain the why's of this video. When you get busy as a crewmember, you are expected to use the autopilot, so it could help you relieve some of your tasks, that way you could concentrate in other issues. Also, it depends on the captains, some of these captains do not like their pilots to hand fly the aircraft, except when required by the operating procedures set forth by the company. In this situation, we were required to hand fly the aircraft on a day like this one at 1000 feet. The minimums that you hear, is set regardless of weather conditions and it is dictated by the approach in use. Again, company policy. Thank you for watching my videos.

Thank you Bill, it's an honor to have you here in my channel. I created this channel as an alternative to transferring all these videos to an external memory drive. Most of these videos were recorded for personal use and for friends and family. So the quality on some of them is not where I would consider very good for public viewing. Regardless of my feelings, I went ahead and publish them anyway. I will recommend you to watch a small collection of videos, named Zero G. I was one of the pilots who flew for NASA on the B727-200 under the Micro Gravity Program. The problem with the videos is that they were recorded with a 6 MP cellphone camera. At the time, it was the best cellphone camera the Nokia flip phone could provide. Once again thank you for subscribing, and enjoy your retirement. I have 4 1/2 years to go.

I am one of the pilots in this group of pilots. As part of that group of pilots, it makes me a crewmember on the aircraft, since this type of aircraft was designed to be flown by multiple pilots. Besides, Capt. Joe might just give you some advice on how not to behave 🤣 😂 I used to fly for Unitop in Wuhan and we had a contract with you guys, so we used to go to your ramp all of the time. Also, we used to overnight at the same resort in Turkmenbashi, and one early afternoon Capt.Joe arrived late to the table where all you guys were staying, one of the senior captains sitting there, gave him a bunch of crap about being late, because he was recording himself looking good in the mirror. We all laughed at his expense. Capt. Joe took it like a champ, it was funny. Thank you for bringing back memories of my days in Luxembourg, my fellow freightdog.

Although it is true about that rule, people sometimes make comments and usually they don't last that long. It's not like you are having a conversation about something and are completely disregarding your task at hand.
