This video has a lot mixed in it, including some forgotten fun before an incident with my Freewing T-33 Shooting Star 80mm EDF Jet along with helping folks fly a Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m RTF with SAFE & confusing GPS settings.

Here are the review notes for this Freewing T-33 EDF Jet:
Pros:
- Parts and pieces come polybagged for protection
- High-end finish on the model
- Setup was basic and straight-forward
- Robust landing gear for grass friendly ops and hard landings
- New powerful and efficient 80mm in-runner 9-blade EDF setup
- Model officially licensed by Lockheed Martin
- Split flaps
- It was locked in the entire flight!
Cons:
- Missing paint on the back of the canopy
- The left main blew out of the wing on the third landing as seen in this video
Overall, I am very impressed with this jet and I can't wait to get out and fly this more after some repairs. I will maiden the E-flite Su-30 first through!
This is how Motion RC describes this Freewing EDF Jet:
Motion RC is excited to announce the new Freewing T-33 Shooting Star in 1/9.5 scale. Honoring the popular T-33 that flew with over 40 countries between 1948 and 2017, the Freewing T-33 faithfully represents this amazing aircraft!
Constructed from EPO foam, carbon, wood, aluminum, and other materials, the Freewing T-33 is powered by an 80mm EDF power system optimized for performance and easy flying behavior. Its wide 1350mm (53") wingspan offers a light wing loading that allows for very stable flight and a mild gentle stall. Scale split flaps and robust aluminum trailing link suspension landing gear makes taking off from and landing on grass runways an easy operation. Removable tip tanks, an accurate overall outline, and landing gear doors enhance the scale fidelity of this model aircraft. With a quick and easy screw together assembly that is convenient for pilots wanting to get in the air quickly.
The Freewing T-33's power system provides performance that is similar to other recent 80mm Freewing jets such as the popular Freewing Avanti S and Freewing L-39 Albatros but is now powered by a 1920kv Inrunner! The 100A ESC provided ample headroom for high power use and the 9 blade EDF provides a proven efficiency that thousands of Freewing jets have had worldwide. Rapid acceleration, low cruising altitude position, and efficient energy consumption are key features of the Freewing T-33. Although it's wingspan is greater than more expensive 90mm jets, the T-33 is affordable to operate and makes a perfect EDF trainer jet for new jet pilots moving up from smaller 64mm and 70mm jets

There known for not having allot of glue on the mains Pull them both out and gorella glue them back in also the pin in the nose gear is very soft and breaks or bends easily you might want to have one machined to keep that from happening soon to you

ALL bnf/pnp manufacturers are cutting corners nowadays, especially Horizon on all their eflite line! They are using minimal FoamTac. 5 minute epoxy EVERYTHING on/in that comes loose. Always, definitely quadruple check ALL eflite everything! Dont get me started on my pos commander bnf. (Waste of my $300💩)

easy glue it back on fix. . to avoid those landing stalls , always land with throttle , especially with flaps. try coming in with more speed and authority instead of one flare use a system of mini flares, you got a nice runway there

@GBLynden
@GBLynden 2 жыл бұрын
Hey brother! I certainly pancaked it, but it wasn’t due to SAFE. I only fly non-SAFE RX’s in my PNP planes like this. It was purely pilot error and a piss poor glue job at the factory 👊🏻💥👊🏻

Awesome video, G.B. And you're right about the Carbon Cub GPS, I had the S+, the virtual fence would self activate sometimes, had lots of issues with plane not wanting to connect to sattellite, and had two S+ that never would bind out of the box. That's one reason I love my S2, great Airframe and no GPS!

Cool video. Helpful to see how damage can occur even with expert skills and only a mildly imperfect landing. It was also kind of you to help in person as you've helped me and other beginners virtually. Along these lines, the HK 750mm P51D makes your list of possible '3rd' RC planes. Could other gyro'd HK mini warbirds be substituted? I think you may have flown their 750mm Corsair which makes me think it's a specific rec just for the P51D. Thanks so much!
@GBLynden
@GBLynden 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin! To answer your question, yes, I think any other the other Warbirds should be able to sub in for that one. I do have that Corsair, but it hasn’t been assembled yet as I have been insanely busy with my newborn. Just be aware that the plane will be fast and twitchy, just like the P-51 and Warbirds should technically be a 4th plane or later 👊🏻💥👊🏻
