I hope the audience appreciates what we are watching here: A professional pilot handling one of the Most Challenging pilot 'specializations' of all - and making it look easy! Namely: MISSION/RELIEF PILOT - i.e. Single Pilot; Complex, high performance aircraft; Remote, rugged terrain; Airstrips that even Mell Gibson (Air America!) would fear to land at; Rapidly changing, weather conditions with poor forecasting/monitoring facilities; Primitive radio navigation facilities with limited ATC services; Limited ground servicing facilities; Very limited maintenance facilities; Limited communication facilities... Yet, you maintain high professional standard while still have time to sell some merch along the way. Truly impressive - thanks for sharing! Best regards for continued success!

@@MissionaryBushPilot Hi - we certainly enjoy your work. But for those of us that understand the challenges of flying in PHG we totally respect the highly skilled work that you provide in an extremely challenging high altitude and changing country. The weather, the mountains, the limitations of flight, and your approach to this all. Every. Single. Flight. It is WOW , just awesome. And we get to share it in a small way. A school mate of mine did some flying in PNG in the 1980's, so I heard a bit, but you show it all, and how challenging it is. Thank you so much. Kindest regards, Alistair Lewis. Melbourne .Australia

I watch alot of aviation review channels and anytime this guy comes up they have nothing but nice things to say. It's always a video about good judgement and excellent piloting skills. Its never what you shouldn't do. When is this guy its always an example of how you should do things and how to handle changing conditions.

At any time there are thousands of planes in the air, there are many more good pilots. Most channels will show you exceptions, not the mundane everything ok.

Another great video with amazing scenery, getting to see the locals, and a water/mud landing too. The Kodiak 100 certainly is a very versatile hauler of everything, and has revolutionised air travel and freight haulage capacity over the old piston powered, tough, Cessna 206s of yester-year. More kgs now goes directly to reliable thrust and climb performance! Cheers, David in NZL

Love all your videos..Back in the 70s it was possible to get an airline to pay for everything and you get a job at the end of it I realise a lot of you guys use bush flying as a stepping stone into the airlines.But after a few years doing this, flying for an airline into international airports must seem dull. That's a very tight turn onto final at Haia - those trees look very close but then it is a very tight valley! You looked very heavy on the take off run at Karimui - not surprising given the number of bags of (peanuts?) that were waiting for you. That first twenty miles north from Karimui look really remote and very rugged - no wonder there are no roads there. The time lapse sequence was again so informative - the landscape comes to life in those sequences. I very much enjoy the pre-flight footage as well and this whole video shows wonderfully what is involved in being a bush pilot in PNG - plenty of hard work in many different ways.

Every time I watch now, I am stunned by the wildness and beauty of the country you fly over and into. There is still such a rawness that is similar to places in the northwestern coast of the US/Canada and Alaska. In some ways, watching your videos is helping/ inspiring me to re-activate my PPL after a long time. I love flying. It, like another is a passion I've had since a child. I'm close to retirement after a good career in IT so though it has been a while, I've felt called to consider this path again. I will be sharing you link with another who aspires to be a pilot. I think she would also connect with the missionary work as well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You, Sir are a Steely-Eyed Missile Man! This is my most favorite episode in your PNG Saga! All those camera angles, other planes, loading and unloading cargo and passengers and those LANDINGS! I was ready for a cardiology check up after that first landing of yours!!! KUDOS 👍 I was thinking when you were loading those Fuel Drums, you've got nerves of steel. Do you personally ensure that they are safely sealed and are they topped all the way up to avoid too many problems with the pressure dif.? I don't know about the Ladies following this channel, but guys always like to chew the fat and exchange War Stories. Any chance of a small feature documentary starring yourself and your Colleagues and perhaps some of the Ground Crew and/or ATC Personnel? Another thing is the Language. It's really fascinating! How long did it take you to learn it, and how did you learn it? Thank you for some absolutely fascinating and thrilling flights, Missionary Bush Pilot! 👍👍👍👍👍 Greetings & Blessings from Arctic Norway 🇳🇴🇺🇸

more logging would produce more roads for the locals to use -- look at British Columbia thousands of roads yet its still beautiful but has good access for locals to do recreation ATV quad & dirt bike / snowmobile riding etc -- PNG could benefit greatly from more logging , make the logging blocks small with random shapes they dont look bad and turn green within 1 year

I know you're a Pilot's pilot & even though I'm not a pilot at all I do know you're a cut above most. That said, I have a hard time in understanding how you can make enough money to fly in this area? None of my business but I don't think I've ever seen/known such a difficult area to fly in & also being so poor. Surely there are other very demanding places to fly but I've watched you & I'm amazed at how well your do your job. Even the load of peanuts wouldn't pat for too much gas so I marvel at how ends are met. peace & GB ALL

Can you explain a bit more about the 'erratic' power lever movement at @21:11? By the sound it changes pitch really rapidly, is it to limit the amount of "stuff" that might get blown up infront of you with the beta thrust?
@stevekirk8546Ай бұрын
Yes, beta thrust in and out to slow down as the brakes are much impaired by a very slippery surface like that. Keeping lateral control whilst landing is vital I think so too heavy breaking or beta thrust can can can destroy that - hence Ryan's rapid manipulation of thrust and breaking - a little but often I guess - the manual equivalent to ABS in a motor car..
