Yes, do more videos like the floating point video. I enjoy watching your "let's play" style of videos on KSP, not only because you're better at the game than I am, but because you are more knowledgeable than I am, and you're good at teaching. Videos like your floating point video allow you to teach without the structure of a game. Plus. your accent is sexy.

Hello Scott Manley! Not only did I like the video on 64-bit, but I'd love it if you could go into more detail about approaches to measuring, bounding, and minimizing floating point error, and any alternative representations worth mentioning (I'm thinking of fixed point arithmetic.) the earth may as well be hollow from my standpoint, I'm not saying it is physically, but from a view of "there's no possible way of getting anything down there to take pictures of it currently" it may as well be hollow. Just like the ocean has no deepest point and Mars has no life Basically, a very simplistic version of "If you can't show me a picture of it then it's not real"
@OsirusHandle8 жыл бұрын
+rparker069 Something can have a physical property without needing to see it... For example, gravity and heat distribution would be completely wrong. We have also been down the challenger deep.
@scottmanley8 жыл бұрын
+rparker069 Consider that taking a picture is just recording an image based on light waves, similarly you can make images using sound waves, like the sound of seismic waves moving through the earth. We already have images of earth's interior.
@rparker0698 жыл бұрын
Scott Manley see now that is omething I didn't know In that case allow me to change my thinking to "it may as well not exist because there's no currently possible way to use it"
@jodomo42798 жыл бұрын
+rparker069 But it does exist, and we do study it, and that study affects our understanding of the world and our ability to exploit it (fossil fuel prospecting and seismology, for example). "It may as well not exist" is a bizarre thing to say...
