Tenants should not be be able to get away with 8 months of unpaid rent. If someone ignores a credit card payment eight times, the credit card company still accumulates the total. The same logic/rules should apply to the bad tenants that refuse to pay. Every month of missed payment will be owed upon eviction.

It’s really quite pathetic this happens. Iam a tenant and when I hear unpaid rent I think of the type of people that can’t handle a breakup and keep coming around. Tenants without mental illness like this will just ask the landlord how to rectify if they lost a job and move out so landlord can get rent from someone else. But also Funny landlords picking bad tenants just to make money tho and in return learning a life lesson that money does not equal a good person lol Landlords fake having money I guess tenants do to now.

Thanks, that is good to know. In other parts of the world it is customary to ask for a letter from the previous landlord to verify if they always paid rent etc. While previous landlords could lie to get them out, it adds an additional level of security.

yes i am a suffering landlord. the nasty people who are staying my home are not paying rent since last month and beahaving very rude when ask rent. LTB law is for tenants not for landlords. my debt is going up and i am living in someones basement single room. tenants staying happly in my home without paying rent

I would have to say if your mortgage is being pain fully by your tenants you can’t afford the property. Us tenants must not weed people such as yourself out due to foreclosures. Tenants should only rent from companies or someone not relying solely on the rent to pay ever for them. Time for many money hungry people to reflect before the bank foreclosures

I think this is a great idea to help with this scenario. I heard of too many tenants taking advantage and the government will not do anything, we together must leverage technology to reward the people who are ethical and make the right effort while providing options for screen out those who only want to take advantege.

Tenants not paying rent sucks but it's only a small part of the Ontario landlord tenant problems. But the media like Jerry the Egg Agar pound on about it on 1010 radio.

There are sites are popping up for this to warn other tenants of bad landlords. It’s mandatory now for this and works as we have seen a few places with bad landlords or management companies still vacant . There have always been more bad landlords then tenants this is not new for tenants

Funny as a tenant I have had 3 landlords running away from paying deposit back or fix things and we have had to wait and file and find and serve to landlords for a very long time. Iam certainly not saying tenants that do not pay are right but I find it funny that landlord cry over things us good tenants have had to go thru for years. It’s easy for landlords…. Pick a good tenant in person not most money on internet lol Renting isn’t new lol Right now the bad issues are landlords that truly can’t afford the property anymore which makes a ridiculous demanding landlord and a vulnerable situation for tenants so now us tenants must interview the landlords and be choosy now. But again to the young ones renting isn’t new don’t get sad when you pick the wrong tenants lol

My landlord used to be good but now they seem to think we're responsible for natural wear and tear which were not especially considering these issues were evident before moving in its like they think we're renting to own without the owning we have a crumbling concrete exterior sta8rway they won't fix so I'm just going to sue them once they're so bad that is causes personal injury and take their house!
