thats whats great about Canada, far to many hills never get any flooding, other then the odd back road pipe washed out, MB has the red river flood way that looks after the flat lands out west. but we are all well above sea leavel

I didn't know that there were round arbor shafts thought they were all square! Think that is better? I would think they would be harder to keep tight but I guess not. Didn't know if you knew it but you had a little dirt on your shirt and pants just saying!
@FarmingFixingFabricating

Yeah there John Deere disk arbors were square. We had a Krause and that was round to. Dirty closes gives the uniform company something to do.

I don't know my model numbers but does Landol really call those disks or vertical tillage tools seems to me that's a pretty gray area anymore whichever it is I'm sure it will preform a lot better now! Thanks for the video.

These are disks, the disks are "bowl" shaped. They cut and mix the soil. Vertical tillage tools the disks are straight with a wavy edge. These more slice and size residue and loosen soil leaving some residue on top.

That job was one I always hated. With a disc that size it takes a community of folks to do it. We ran 32 ft IH harrows. Can't remember how many disc it took but it was a lot. Hardest part was the center section. Relocating the gangs. How many bearings did you have to replace? We always replaced them too.

Do you just use big impact to tighten or a slug wrench and sledge hammer also? I have to use slug wrench on my big rome to get them tight enough. I feel your pain on the blade problems, I put new 24" boron blades on my rome and broke 3 blades that spring. Never again, back to weise blades.
@FarmingFixingFabricating
@FarmingFixingFabricating 5 жыл бұрын
We just use the impact too set them then we use a pipe about six foot long and really tighten them with that.

The wear down on the disk blades is impressive, how many years did that take? The ground wearing the blades down also does a decent job of sharpening them. I think that is the worst part of the whole job is getting the old gang off without losing fingers or needing stitches. Thank you for today's video.
