I live in Mississippi. Where Peavey is located and was born. My first amp was a 5150. Yep. I've played all other brands over the years and my goto amp is my Red Stripe 112 Peavey. I placed a Blue Marvel in it. It can get almost any tone I want. The best thing about Peavey is I can take ANY amp to their shop and they'll repair it for $50-$75. That's customer service. I collect Peavey. It's easy around here. Anyway, enough about me and Peavey. I just found your channel and I subscribed. I enjoy the rambling and jokes as much as the gear reviews.

They called the master volume “post gain” because part of the trans tube technology was that you could actually get a drive from the output amplifier as well as from preamp, like you can with a tube amp. Normally with solid state amps only the preamp can be overdriven.

I played Peavey Bandits all through the 1980s into the 90s. I used them at all my gigs. I always brought 2. Depending on the night I'd start with one turned on and switch on the second amp if it got really crowded and I needed more sound. I've owned Fender amps and Marshalls but the peaveys never let me down. Your amp sounded great. My first amplifier was a Fender Deluxe Reverb, next was a marshall, next was Music Man, next was Vintage Fender Twin, and next were Peaveys.

Woa that's an awesome little amp there, go Peavey! First 'amp' was a homemade headphone amp a friend made. First 'big' amp was a Peavey Bandit 65W (12" speaker) bought in 1980s, used for years but it was finally stolen in the 90s along with my favourite guitars. Amazingly, I still have the Peavey Companion 15W (8" speaker) I also bought in the 80s. Can't use it in my old apartment so it's amp sims and computer headphones for me.

That's a nice little amp. My first amp was Marshall solid-state combo. I don't remember the model number but it had 2 x 12" speakers and "Valvestate" on the front. Maybe 100w? It had a 2 switch pedal for switching the overdrive and something else (reverb? It had lots of knobs). I didn't have a guitar at the time (1998-ish) but always planned on getting one so when I was offered the amp in trade (a good deal for me) I took it. Fast-forward almost a year and still no guitar, a friend who played in a band asked if he could try it out and ended up making me an offer for it that was a tidy profit for me. I wish I still had it as he made it sound really damn good and it was better than what I have now.
@Shaun.Stephens4 жыл бұрын
A bit of Googling tells me that the amp I owned actually had a tube preamp with solid state power amp section. It was a Marshall Valvestate VS265. It had 3 channels and a 3 switch pedal with a spring reverb and 130w (2 x 65w into 2 x 12" Celestion Goldbacks). Like this one reverb.com/p/marshall-valvestate-vs265-3-channel-2-x-65-watt-2x12-stereo-guitar-combo I wish I still had it now.
