ADSR: Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release. The Tri-Force: Power, Wisdom, Courage (and you). Those who wield ADSR envelopes are capable of many things--including shaping some truly epic sounds. What sort of sounds have you made?

Loving this series. These are clearing up many basics. Keep doing this man. But it would be great if you gave some song examples.

I always kinda just messed with attack and release, never really understood decay and sustain all that well besides cutting all but the decay and keeping that short for choppy drums. But my man, you have opened up my world of understanding. Thank you!

What does it mean for the ADSR to "open" and "close" a filter? Is the filter passband gain (amplitude), filter cutoff frequency or filter resonance changing ? Does the shape of the lowpass filter change? Can you set the "strength" of the ADSR's effect on the filter, e.g. limit the range of opening and closing the filter?
@noisevector Жыл бұрын
Opening and closing a filter usually refers to the cutoff. In general the ADSR generates a CV curve over time that you can use for anything you like. Some ADSR's have attenuators to scale the CV down (or up). Filters also sometimes have attenuators for CV. You can always scale it externally (or invert it) with some other module.

Is there an effect in Ableton that would allow you to apply your own ADSR to Wav or Audio files in Ableton
@LANDRmusic4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Load a sample into Simpler and use the ADSR envelopes there.
