Your painting subject is beautiful. I liked the purples etc. in the distance. I have trouble going from dark to light with Rembrandt. I ended up with a half stick set of Sennelier just for getting those lights. Someone commented on the paper cost. Uart 600 is less expensive. Another tip I tried was sanding inexpensive watercolor paper lightly with sand paper and it worked great. Susan Jenkins has a tutorial. Thank you for another fabulous tutorial. Your voice is clear and relaxing.

I agree I like the colors. I never tried pastels, it looks intimidating. But you got me curious.

Can oil pastels be used ?

Yes, but oil pastels behave differently and are harder to cover over colors already in place. Just keep this in mind.

love these colours but pastel mat is so expensive! any other paper suggestions?

Yes, the paper is pricey, but you get what you pay for. Canson Mi-teintes pastel paper is much cheaper and will work for this subject.
