great video! i want to prevent weeds or grass from growing under my deck that’s 6’ off the ground. if i put this woven stuff down and put river rock ontop, you think i’ll be okay? maybe sprinkle a weed preventer over the rocks in the spring?

Can i put woven cover on top of 2 year old mulch, then river rock on top? Or should i remove all mulch first? I do plan to spray weed killer first before laying down the woven cover.

Hi, can you help me? I was looking for one of your videos how to lay down the woven fabric and how you would secure it verses using the cheap galvanized metal u shape to secure it? The goal is to lay the woven fabric down tight and secure with out puncturing the material with a lot of holes. And how to prep the soil, level the ground, soil so the woven fabric lays down uniform. Do you have a video showing how this is done. If not can you make one? Thanks so much!

The only use I've found for these woven landscape fabrics, is to place it over a grassy or weedy area and leave it (like you did with your demonstration over turf), or as a topcoat with holes for vegetable gardening that gets taken up every year. I would never use it in an ornamental bed or top coat it, as that will just lead to lasagna layers of weed control, as the top coat itself started to gather organic debris and grow things on top of it. Cardboard is by far the best weed block for ornamental gardening, as it is effective, and it breaks down into soil over time, and eliminates the lasagna affect when top coated.

The whole idea is to prevent weeds from growing up and through the barrier. Weeds can grow in your mulch but it is super easy to pull them up. You can also apply a pre-emergent to the mulch to prevent weeds.

It does very well. Of course it will only work to prevent weeds/grass from growing up and through it. It does not prevent seeds from landing in the stones and germinating on top of it.

I’m digging my garden up and going to lay to weed fabric down the woven one can I put top soil on top of this and seed the soil would the grass grow?

Why are you wanting to put a landscape fabric under your grass? It would start to grow but the barrier would stunt the root growth and the grass would struggle unless the the barrier was 2 feet below the suffice. PRG and KBG roots can grow to a depth of 2 feet, TTTF grow to between 2 and 3 feet.

@@bmoreland4196 It won't work in that situation. Weed seeds will simply blow in for elsewhere, germinate and then grow in the topsoil that you have on top of the weed barrier. You are better off keeping your grass long and dense.
