I have a D3400 and planning to upgrade glass first. The Sigma 18-35 mm loses sharpness beyond f/8 according to Dxomark. Please advise, when one needs a broad depth of field but desires sharp image.

I love your videos... You're so good at explaining and have very good and relaxing voices... :) I could only afford a Canon 1100D (everything is expensive here in Denmark), but i think it's okay as my first DSLR camera?.. :)
@gavinwade3497 жыл бұрын
+Rajib Roy Don't worry about stopping down the aperture in order to get enough depth of field. All lenses lose some detail due to diffraction (when you stop down past F8 the diffraction can have a noticeable effect on detail) however the sigma 18-35 is a great landscape lens and is plenty sharp even when stopped down past F8. Your pictures will be better if you stop down to get everything you want in focus instead of keeping you aperture at F8 or below in order to get a tiny bit more sharpness.

I have the A6000 and it takes better pictures than my Canon 70D. Highly recommend that camera.

I love this video so much that when I lose another 50 pounds I'm taking a vacation there to do some photography. 2 minutes into the video I decided that's where I'm going to go. Weight loss and photography go hand in hand for me and I tell myself when I get a little thinner then I'm taking a trip somewhere like this. Somewhere rugged, dirty, and muddy. And I bet there's good fishing up there too. Thanks so much guys for uploading this!

+Vic Vinegar My brother lost more than 50 pounds simply by walking every day- it took him a few years, though. Don't deny yourself a photography trip until you lose weight- go on that trip now, and consider it just another component of your photo/exercise lifestyle.

Another small tip for taking panoramas. As you pan, try to keep the camera in the same spot, rather than swinging it in an arch around your axis. If there are things in the foreground, swinging the camera in an arch will make it more difficult to stich the picture together in post. That's because the relative position of foreground objects will change in relation to background objects. In other words, it creates parallax.

Was so lucky to be able to stop by on a work trip. Didn't realize it at the time but I took a picture of the exact same waterfall at the exact same place you did earlier in the video. Yes Chelsea, I have SDP sitting in front of me, and to wanting more video's like your Montana trip for landscapes! As you know, there are many many places in the U.S. to get stunning photo's, and perhaps as a 'tip' you could head to the Yukon and Alaska at some point! Just spent 5 weeks there ourselves, and the scenery is spectacular in many many locations. We chose August, as the chance of rain was less, and there is still a lot of colour and light. Be ready for those long days though, as going to bed at midnight with the sun still shining certainly is a little different!

Thanks for sharing your adventure in nature, it seriously pulls my heart upwards, where I feel the most free in nature :) I hope you can do more of these landscape trips and share some tips, once you're allowed out back into the wild! I backpacked in the US in 2004, and the beautiful Rockies in CO and rock formations in Utah were my favourites! Would love to see Montana one day.. Last year my 20yr dream of visiting New Zealand became a reality ( I've been living in Australia). I wanted something better than my Sony Xperia Premium smartphone, so being on limited $, bought a 2nd hand Lumix LX100, which got lost in the post, found its way back to the sender the day before my trip... I got a refund, but embarked on my NZ trip just with my smartphone, a super light tripod with phone bracket, and my Mavic Pro Platinum drone... In the end the Xperia did quite well, but photos where a bit over sharpened in camera, and the single wide angle lens made the spectacular mountains look too far away and small at times. The scenery were so gorgeous though, that it kinda made up for my lack of camera gear in a way. But definitely determined to go back there with a proper camera and approx 3 lenses. Leaning towards X-T30 for compact size and lenses, & reasonable 2nd hand price. NZ is super strict re drone laws, (you need different paid permits for different regions), I ended getting some nice footage in 2 breathtaking spots (both in LOTR). A few months later and I still need to finish editing all my footage and photos! I'm not allowing myself to buy gear until I've done that ! Keep safe and hoping you can enjoy the natural beauty of the US again soon!

Some, do not like, for whatever reasons. I do like the Tony & Chelsea Photography videos, because they are easy to listen to. Direct. And the videos give you a simple understanding of photography's important essentials. To many videos that are to educate you on photography are difficult to understand and most are ranting without getting to the moral of the video.
