Great to see you uploading again. It's been a while! Thank you for braving the weather. It's impressive to see what Man and Machine can do to engineer themselves out of a problem. Just a thought, back in the steam days trees/vegetation were kept cut well clear of running lines for fire prevention. I wouldn't know if landslips were more common then or not

Rain or shine, snow or mud, Morthren, you trudge through it to show us an inside look of the many things that happen behind the fences on the rails.

Interesting coverage. That certainly seems an essential job well done over that period of time! The sparks between the train and third rail at the end were pretty cool to watch in my opinion too. 👍

Hey Morthren, great to see you're back. I'm not sure why, but one of your videos on abandoned harbor railways has disappeared, and I can't seem to find it or remember it's name. If I recall, it was the one mainly used for transportation of scrap, including old rail.

I see the snow & ice made the train nice and sparky, lol. Last year, US 231 in Morgan County between Huntsville and Arab, AL, had part of the road wash-out on the side of a hill due to a bunch of rain we'd gotten around this time last year. Thankfully though, the contractor ALDOT hired was able to get the road reopened well ahead of schedule, much to the relief of anyone who lived south of there and had to commute to Huntsville regularly.

Morthren, welcome back! Hope all is well. Did those Balfour Beatty guys spot you your first time trackside and then post their signage so as to get some free publicity? You were in a cow field--as near as I can tell that sign was positioned perfectly so that the only one who could see it was the bloke with the camera. Lol!

A complete reversal of the attitude towards Lineside foliage of course - go on other days when it was thought that the network of roots would help to knit the ground together. Priority now is to simply avoid leaf fall onto the permanent way.
