Hey bro, just wanted to start off by saying that I love the vids. Super insightful and informative, especially the maintenance once but I can't help but notice that when you were doing your monthly totals of weekly costs, it seems that you divided by 4 weeks instead of 4.34 weeks which would give you a much more accurate number. Think of this, if you multiply lets say 20 a week times 4 weeks per month times 12 months that'll give you 960. But if you divide 960 by 52 weeks that weekly number comes out to 18.46. so where'd the 1.5 dollars go? Well, multiply 4 weeks by 12 months. what number did you get? I got 48. Where'd the last 4 weeks go? It goes into the fact that not every month has exactly four weeks. A few extra dollars extra shouldn't make or break a person but I figured I'd comment in case someone didn't notice this. I sure didn't at first. Thanks again for the vids and be safe.

Great video. Suppose I have 1 year experience as a company driver and my cdl for only 1 year as well. So not a lot of experience. If after 1 year I come to landstar with a fairly new truck (valued at $135k) and my own trailer what do you think my insurance will be on the truck portion? I'm afraid this will be too costly considering I don't have a lot of experience. What are your thoughts on this for a newbie to the industry?

For the truck, you are probably looking at $350 to $500 thru 1st guard if they accept you.

You don’t really need it. But I only pay $135/month for mine. It might make sense to keep it.

Landstar still Bill you the insurance when you don’t work, it will just show on the next settlement. Or you can prepay.

Do you think its attainable for someone at landstar to net between say 80-100k yr if they have no truck payment, stay out majority of the year, run hard, choose loads wisely, no bills, money set aside for maintenance, hauling landstar trailers? Just trying to decide if its worth the switch currently a company driver grossing 60k yr wanting to go to the next level financially and trying to figure out if I should go the landstar route

You said you didn't have to pay cargo and liability insurance for two or three weeks that you didn't run. But then you replied that you do pay for those sitting weeks in the future by paying more in the weeks you run. So basically you are paying 52 weeks of cargo and liability insurance even if you sit for 20 weeks???
