LANE ASSIST ESCALATION POV - VW PASSAT 2018

I like the Tesla approach. It will not disengange, but bring the car to a stop with hazards on. And I think it even will chose the rightmost lane on a highway. I would at least expect any lane assist to bring the car to a halt on the current lane, while keeping the full system active till stop. Imagine when someone has a heart attack or something... with that disengage mimic, he would be doomed. I would really like to hear the explanation of a german TUV, why disabling a perfectly fine working, error-free control system is considered "safe", when it would be fully able to bring that car to a controlled halt instead. In my car (German brand too), the active lane assist will disengange. Oddly enough, the lane keeping assist will stay active (which is kinda good), but an enabled cruise control will stay active (which is again very bad in that situation...)

i know! but i should also do something similar in a manual! like kill the engine and brake by it self!

Would be useful, yes. Even in models with manual transmission the clutch could be automatically pressed to neutralize the current gear and then carefully brake the car to a stop.
