I bought one a year ago. I’m in love with it. I would suggest the 112 tho cause it is heavy! Worth it!

Bought one of these for my function band. Honestly it's been perfect to cover a wide range of genres and it serves that purpose extremely well. As much as a real cab and amp is great in the studio. For live use this cab makes life so much easier and most importantly it gets the job done! Well done Laney!

Can you describe which genre please? I'm still wondering if those are great for anything except metal/high gain stuff. Thank you in advance!
@tylerdodmusic423
@tylerdodmusic423 5 ай бұрын
@@benoitquintonSure! I don’t play any metal or high gain. Soul, Funk , Blues and Rock is what I use it for. It takes anything that you can throw at it. Due to the flat response speaker it means that it isn’t tuned to a particular genre it’s a blank canvas that you can paint your tone on. My best advice is to use a low cut eq as some presets can sound muddy if the eq isn’t set appropriately. It’s very reactive to the environment it is in so needs a bit more tweaking. For the best tones I recommend using the inbuilt cab simulations which can be found on the switches at the back of the cab.

I wish the cab demo was through an ultra linear mic and pre. Using “standard” guitar mics doesn’t really show what is happening in the room. The IRs being played through Full Range Flat Response already have the SM57 or Royer 121 sound baked in. Demo would have been better suited through like an Earthworks 40K mic into a clean pre like a Hardy or a Grace or something similar.

The best FRFR is out there somewhere and I'm using it for my modeler. Hint: it has a class AB amplifier, not class D.

It’s nice to see more and more companies join in on the directions so many of us have been headed down for decades. It feels like recently the range of choices available has really started to turn a new corner.

I own one of this cabinets ( 2X12 ) . And totally recommended it . I used it with al my digital gear ( Axe Fx , Kemper, Boss, etc . For some reason this cab sounds better with my Kemper . I mean the high gain sounds. Low gain and cleans sounds great in all modeling / profiler units .When I find a bigger place , I’ll buy another of those 2X12 to play in stereo . I love it .

2:00 - That's the exact reason that I have not made my move with the FRFR cabs yet. I have the Quad Cortex and have been looking for an amp to use with it. I was looking at the Laney 1x12, but if it doesn't move air or get feedback, then it's useless to me.

@@ajlsrv5490 The Laney 1 x 12 is what we're talking about here, right ??? I've had my 👁on that amp for a while now. I keep looking it up at Sweetwater and I've watched a few videos. What about Feedback? Can you get nice feedback out of it? This is another major concern I have with FRFR's. Also, it looks BADASS!

So if I’m playing live with this and want to use it like a regular ol cab after the amp sim on my Quad Cortex, I’ll turn my IRs OFF? Explain it to me like I’m 6

Looks like a great cab although these are really not meant to be miked like a traditional cab, thats what the IR's via the line output/DI are for hence feeding the FOH desk. The cab itself is really only meant for monitoring on stage and the stage bleed would augment the FOH as any traditional cab would. Miking the cab with a ie: SM57 defeats the purpose and would make it sound worse. Not a great example guys even if you bypassed the IR's as they would be better in the modelers themselves.

Could it make a good option for a bass guitar rig with a kemper?

Hello, chazmanda! I would advise against running a bass guitar through any guitar cabinet. Thanks for the interest! Spunde, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1732, Spunde@Sweetwater.com

Can either of these handle bass guitar through a digital rig?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 10 ай бұрын
Hi, Sierra! Thanks for your question. The LFR cabs are flat response, full range; so they don’t discriminate on instrument. 47hz is the range of a low bass E which is the measured frequency response of the cab. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! Robert Williams, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 2371, robert_williams@sweetwater.com

would a seymour duncan powerstage necessary for something like this?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater Ай бұрын
Hi, scusemewhileiwhipout. The Laney LFR cabinets have power amps built into them so the Power Stage wouldn’t be necessary, and actually can’t be used with it. You can simply plug your modeler or preamp pedal straight into the Laney cab. Thanks for your interest! Honest question: why not connecting the digital device with a regular cabinet instead of this cabinet?
@NickHillMakesMusic
@NickHillMakesMusic 10 ай бұрын
With this can, you can still use your IRs and cabinet blocks… or, you can use it as a standard 2x12. Plus it contains a power amplifier that you need with most modelers in which you’d need to still send to a regular guitar cab. It’s streamlining the setup.

stereo in such a tight space is actually worse, it makes more sense to buy two and have them separate to run stereo, having to speakers right next to each other doing stereo just creates phasing issues

I beg to differ I run a fender cybertwin in stereo through a tube works 4x12 in stereo and it is glorious the panning effects a ping pong delays are enormous. Yes having the speakers further apart can in some cases increase the stereo spread but remember Magnatone created a stereo combo for a reason, it sounds amazing, @@SimonsBand1

Stereo for a slanted cab with 2 speakers tied closely together? you kidding, right? 😂 you just defeated the purpose of stereo if you made this cab stereo. Work hard, earn more, so you can buy 2 of these. Or 3 for a full wdw rig.

They probably didn't spend too much time editing the sounds. It is important to use an EQ low frequency cut and also choose the Mic and Speaker cabinet carefully on you modeller. It makes a world of difference! The inbuilt cabinet simulators on the speaker cabinet also sound the best from experience!

He doesn't seem to have set the EQ right and did not choose the appropriate mic or speaker cabinets for the tone. I agree it doesn't sound great however it definitely isn't the speaker, more the design of his tone.
I HATED FRFR until I learned this
