A rather balanced hero that has somewhat elevated the turtle-boxes due to his unique dota in his talent raising the stats of allies. His addition of 2C guard skill provides protection against physical and magical attacks, coupled with an extended guard range of three blocks. This might initially lead some to categorize him as a formidable tank. Yet, his vulnerability to physical single-target attacks, compounded by the current meta where buffs can be easily dispelled, reveals a critical weakness. Despite his resilience against magical attacks, thanks to the damage reduction from his bond power effect, he falls short of becoming an effective tank, especially when juxtaposed with the likes of Char.
Theoretically, when it comes to SP Lanford, the full moon set may appear to be the optimal choice, but we should realize that this is reminiscent of the challenges SP Bernhard encountered in previous seasons due to limited reach. Breeze, on the other hand, offers a viable solution, enabling Lanford to eliminate significant threats, such as Isode, under the right conditions. This versatility underscores SP Lanford's role as a hybrid of single-target damage dealer and support, rather than a pure tank. Skill selection becomes crucial, as the inclusion of guard skills might inadvertently reduce Lanford's overall effectiveness. (Note that Lanford can attack first + can heal himself whenever he and the allies within his dota effect lands a crit. Additionally, Lanford possesses the exclusive ability to execute a stealth kill, but this requires the presence of an ally with a class different from infantry/commander within a three-block radius. It should be noted, however, that this stealth kill capability is exclusive to Lanford; allies cannot perform the stealth kill, but they can attack first within the dota range, just as SOLS can still attack first without using her 3C as shown in the video. Given the challenging prerequisites for maximizing Lanford's potential, including the specific conditions for his unique abilities to activate, his effectiveness in practical gameplay is somewhat limited. These constraints contribute to Lanford being considered a relatively lower-tier hero within the current meta.)
The video highlights how Lanford boosts the stats of heroes with infantries of distinct classes within a three-block radius, a benefit that extends to all heroes. The Strategy Master faction members, like Nemia, Andriole and Tabres, receive substantial enhancements (However, it's worth noting Tabres' dependency on casting debuff reflects a nuanced interplay with the BP that may also affect SP Lanford's strategic viability. Regardless, we shall see more about this in the future).
