What a lod of #CRAP #Lang was the best mate of the biggest Sheep and Wheat Farmer wo oned half of Westertern Australia. Lang was the only Person or Company to obtain a lease therein.

You can tell when Lang was lying. His mouth was moving. He claimed that it was so risky to set up mining operations, that the miners should be allowed to rip out as much as they wished and the Australian Governments shouldn't take their cut for Australia. Then, he was asked whether the continued increase of ore being mined would lead to Australia running out of ore in the future? Lang then answered that there was so much ore, that Australia could "never" run out because there was so much of it "up there". Funny how there was so much risk when there was so much it would never run out?

excellent point - he was clearly exaggerating and framing the whole scenario for his best interest ... shame he had to BS people to do it

@@oldbloke100 try and think a little deeper rather then just being reactive... the observations made by Greg were fair and quite evident upon review .... Nowhere did he claim old man Lang wasn't a massive contributor to the well being we all enjoy today in Australia, nor did he claim to have contributed more .... It's ok to critique a successful person, the day you do ;t you need to worry, as there's always lesson to be learnt/improvements to make .. Indeed the role of Govt. in mining is critical, and their level of involvement we should all consider and have an opinion on, and be open to adjustment for the betterment of all Australians - not just old man Lang and his relatives...

He doesn't even know why he does what he does, he's driven by his unconscious. He is just running from himself and creating havoc to the land in the process.

Interesting how the person responsible for getting things to happen did not extract the lion's share from this venture. The government, however, with far less risk (arguably none) and exposure (again, arguably none) walks away with the veritable lion's share. Tax in this case is arguably complete theft.

What poppycock. The people of Australia own the resource and the miners derive considerable profits in return for their investment retrieving the ore. Taxes and royalties are payment for exploiting minerals the miners DO NOT own. They're billionnaires now aren't they - Gina, Twiggy, Clive ...? And they benefit from access to a politically stable environment, educated workforce, healthcare, infrastructure, defense, police, judiciary ... all the things taxes pay for. Some right wingers have a very greedy and self-interested mindset. Maybe that's you.

@@Homer482976 Let me ask you this. You discover a source of wealth (be that mineral source, improvement in productivity, a new technology, etc.). You invest in getting it to market. You take all the risk. You deploy your capital in doing so. Are you then happy to have someone else (who has zero equity in the venture and took zero risk) claim the lion's share as theirs?
