His rendition at Versailles is much better. The rubato is… all off. Staccatos where there shouldn’t be, and the tempo is rushed and uneven.

I think exactly the contrary. Here he's surprising, exciting, funny. He is the young Chopin, full of excess, and ambitious. At Versailles, he is brillant too but cleaner. I like this roughness. Unhappily, the sound of the video is not good.
