Lang Lang - Goldberg Variations: On the traces of Bach (Mini Documentary)

It has been my lifelong dream to record the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. It is one of the greatest master pieces ever written for the keyboard. For the ones of you who would like to join me on my journey to the Goldberg Variations, we have created this little mini-series. This is the fifth episode, which documents my research of Bach's traces, which was incredibly exciting. Enjoy!

Fun fact, the "Minuet in G" which they refer to as the first Bach piece they learned, was not in fact written by Bach.

Why Bach Archive would not display the sales receipt for PIANO ET FORTE WITH DYNAMIC VARIETY, and similar instrument that is drastically different from harpsichord, thanks to hammer action that should change perception about interpreting his music with no more emotional repression? This must have been so misleading for Lang Lang (as well as for many other musicians...) Maybe that is why he scaled down his superb and exemplary boldness with dynamics so appropriately included in Italian Concerto. Sadly , it must have influenced his recording to be commonly plain, as many other interpretations, sadly

Ugh! That Minuet in G, referenced at 2:45 was not written by Bach, it was composed by Christian Petzold. It had been misattributed to Bach for a long time due to it's appearance in Anna Magdalena Bach's 1725 notebook, however it's true authorship was established nearly fifty years ago. You figure a "Bach expert" would know that! Lang Lang playing a double-manual harpsichord is pretty darn cute though.

Lang Lang just pretends that that he knows and loves Bach’s music, but to me he is the worst player of the Goldberg Variations. He seems to be incapable to understand the music , too much affectations.
