@madreep Hands down they absolutely stomp the competitions when they face off against other bands from non-HBCU schools because they really know how to put on a show. Their moves are more about style, rythm, and attitude, while their counterparts rely more on military precision.

I’m a native New Orleanian and the daughter of a Dixieland Jazz musician. I can guarantee you that some of the best performances of high school marching bands (I.e. St Aug Marching 100, Warren Easton, etc) are during Mardi Gras parades while they’re awaiting parade lineup. Anyone who’s been to Mardi Gras parades can attest to the fact that parades can stop and even stall for any number of reasons. These amazing musicians use that time to entertain parade goers with impromptu performances that are priceless. Sir, thank you for posting. Your video made my evening.

I loved how that one performer kept her groove going and never stopped even though she lost her shoe. With as amazing as they all were it's impossible to pick any as being superior to one another. They ALL were fantastic!!!! 🙌💖👍

Can't get enough of that drum line. That must be one BIG school to have a band that size. Two of those sections of band would have been bigger than my whole school band.

That was probably the coolest thing I've ever been allowed to watch. I watched the whole thing from start to finish and couldn't look away cuz I didn't wanna miss anything. Fantastically exuberant and yet profoundly casual... Thanks for posting the whole long video in one go. It's perfect in its raw authenticity.

Fun facts…1) there is a football game happening behind them. 2) HBCU band tunnels are usually fun and typically, only percussion instruments are used. 3) the 5th quarter (look up the 5th quarter) is probably 10x more entertaining than this.
